prestige class question

Let's say you have a human druid 7/ranger 3 and have no XP penalty because
your highest class is your preferred class. Now, let's say you start adding
levels of Shifter... will you get the XP penalty from having unequal
non-preferred classes, or do prestige classes not count?

Prestige Classes never count as an extra class so, no XP penalty Smile
