I go to Steam steampowered), DL what I need/want, can I make back-ups
(copies), FOR MYSELF, of what I download? My X-mas, I will have everything
to build my nest "SuperComputer) ( ). There will be new HDs &
definitely a fresh, new install of XP Pro.
I think I've got everything down that you guys, & gals (I think), have told
me ... pointed me to the right directions, etc.; & I really do appreciate
it, truly.
I do not know why I get paranoid about DL'ing a who prog, or group of progs,
then maybe not have the oppty. to back them up ... should even a slight
"glitch" rear its ugly head, & I loose all or part of everything.
This is, promise, 99.4% sure, this is my last Q until I may need a tad bit
of guidance playing in a few days/week. Can I after DL from Steam, can I
back them up?
Sniper - (Jason)

..
PS: LOL, also, in trying to get a consensus of players, what might be a
good alternative "controller", or is mouse & 'board really my only option?
I've just gotten this cute 'lil Logitech G11 gaming keyboard, if you know
about it, then you'll know I can set-up @ least 54 macros, etc.
PSS: I do not know what to say than thank you for your patience & TIA for
whatever you can continue to throw my way in terms of As to my Qs. I will
end here, before you attempt to reach through your monitor & strangle me, or
I end up a casualty of your Killfile's list ...
=)

Yep, in the file menu you have the option of creating backups

When I changes to a fresh PC I just go to steampowered and download the
client
Login with your account and setup the download etc
Let it run through the night and it's ready next day
Why all the hazzle with a lot of DVD's which might or might not work?

You can always redownload what you need

Please feel free to ask questions
Be aware though questions asked twice within the same day is considered
rather silly
> Can I after DL from Steam, can I back them up?
Yes - but I am not sure you really want to waste your time taking backup
copies to DVD's
The time is better spent playing the game

Mouse and keyboard!
You don't want to lay dow the controller in a MP in order to type "LOL" and
get killed as you couldn't the controller fast enugh, would you?

Buying online will prevent what has happened to me, I ordered Call Of Duty 4
Special Edition, and it has gone missing in the post! Bastard Royal Mail. At
least if I had got it through steam this wouldn't have happened. But I
wanted the extra stuff that was in the collectors pack. Now I have to wait
until the 3rd December before I can raise a complaint with the post and with
Play.com. >> Stay informed about: OK, LAST post having to do w/ this immediate topic ... pro.. |

Depends how fast your connection is I guess.. eg, if I were on a 256K
connection, and had just spent a week downloading 15GB of games through
Steam, I'd probably want backups

A royal mail worker comes across a poorly hand-written envelope addressed to
God
The pearly gates
Heaven, The clouds
unsure what to do with the envelope, the worker opens it, in order to
find the sender's address. Inside, a short letter written on the back of
a cigarette packet reads
"Dear God,
I am a 89 years old, I live on my own with no family, and a home helper
to check up on me once a week. I have been a loyal follower of yours my
entire life, and I understand that you are a very busy man, but I am
running in to trouble, and have no-one else to turn to.
My life is difficult at the moment, and, as the winter approaches, I'm
falling short on my heating bills. I wonder if I could possibly
trouble you for 25 pounds, that I can pay my bill with, and keep warm
for the next 3 months."
The mail worker, somewhat saddened by the letter, calls for a whip-round
his sorting office to get some money together, that he can send back.
He manages to gather together £20, and decides to send it back, using
the return address on the letter.
A few days later, the same worker comes across yet another poorly
hand-written envelope, in the same handwriting as before, addressed God.
"Oh, no! Not again." the mail worker sighs. he opens the envelope,
and finds another letter;
"Dear God,
Thank you so much for the money that you sent me. I've paid off my
heating bill, and I wanted to let you know that I'm going to make it
through the winter comfortably.
The money was a little short on what I asked for, but that's ok - it was
probably down to those thieving bastards at the post office"
