Never useless.
If you've been to AQ a whole bunch, find a guild full of people who
aren't hardcore heroics raiders and never made it into AQ, and find
joy out of bringing them there and sharing the experience.
There's still huge audiences for the old stuff. The people who
couldn't get uber enough for it before the expansion now get to
experience it in a little more safety (extra levels to pad them) and
will quite enjoy themselves.

In an uber-casual altoholic guild that is still doing Dire Maul,
Strat, Scholo, LBRS etc.

It's a bit other way - War Effort is a prerequisite for opening the
gates. We had the War Effort completed but no one got seriously into
making the sceptre, so someone from other server transferred with it
and opened the gates.

Too bad all that content is useless now with the expansion. They
really need to do something to make the old instances relevant again.
As long as it's not some sort of rep grind.

Well they don't.. at first. When you have a new realm transfers
towards it are impossible for the first 180 days. If after 180 days
noone bothered to make the scepter, you can seriously doubt that it
will ever happen (especially with TBC out) so fastest one out there
can put the Scarab Lord title in front of his name and claim his epic

ZG is one of the best instances IMO. The whole place and the
encounters were always fun. AQ was a bit more drab.

In the rare event (these days) you can get 20-25 people together, it's
more likely they'll want to do something that has the possibility of
advancing usful rep or getting a wanted drop. I guess I'm more
hardcore than I thought. 10-manning MC or Ony sounds like a fun
challenge though.

For the record - Onyxia was 3-manned *BEFORE* TBC (yes, 3 level 60
characters).

When we have karazhan raids scheduled with a big overflow, we always
organize some old-school instance bashes. Excellent fun and has the
added bonus that you can easily let people leave the group should the
main raid need replacements.
First one we did was 12-man ZG. Hakkar - Jindo - Mandokir down in 1h
17mins. Last week we did Molten Core with 14 people. Excellent for
trying alternate strategies (like pulling 3 Corehound Packs at the
same time ) and a great laugh as people tend to get over-courageous
and die a horrible death.

Funny Scholo happening - Was on a scholo run last night ... Gandling was wearing a green winter hat. We joked about if we could rip it off of his bloody head after we defeated them (ok, it is an evil RP guild), and wouldn't ya know it ... it did indeed drop. Too funny.
How to avoid knocking out dots? - Especially in 40 man raid, I wonder what the good guilds do... Ours have 5-6 locks in a raid pretty often, and we are "fighting" for the "dot space" in between us and with other members of the raid. Any suggestions? |
