What is the point of the Warlock Firestone? It adds a chance to add
fire damage to the main hand, but what warlock is ever going to do
hand-to-hand combat? I always use my wand if I am conserving mana...

I suppose it's vaguely ok if you're a fire lock, as I think it adds damage
to fire spells? otherwise... I don't think there is much point. Now if you
could trade those to other people they'd be immensely popular with rogues,
warriors etc, if they did enough damage, but as it is... pointless.

Yeah, my first thought was to make them for my own rogue, warrior and
palladin. It wasn't a lot of damage, but always nice to add some, since
WoW is a game of very small percentages tipping the balance.

When I realized (about 2 seconds later) that they could not be traded, I
became baffled on what the point was to even having the spell...

It's a broken thing. Lord only knows why it hasn't been removed. *

I often wonder why Omen of Clarity is in the Druid's resto tree.
Surely it is only useful to a feral druid as it is a proc triggered by
the druid's melee attacks. When I first healed in a group with my
druid I would go up and whack at the mobs to try an proc it Smile. It's
just daft really.

If for some strange weird reason you decide you want to level your
warlock as a destruction warlock, the firestone can be a little
useful in low level BG's.

More so now that firestones are equipped in the wand slot. Low level
wands don't add too much in stats anyway. Get a nice staff with some
good warlock stats, at low levels this is mainly just stamina, and
equip the firestone. In BG's, use immolate and spam searing pain.
Both short cast nukes, and in the case of searing pain, just over the
GCD. With a firestone equipped you can do more damage with searing
pain than you can with shadow bolt.

Once you get up into the higher levels, especially once you get to
outland and start picking up wands with +spell damage on them,
firestones become less useful, as your wand gives you better stats
than your firestone would.

For an affliction or demonology warlock, a firestone is pointless.

They should make it a shadowstone, mioght actually get some use then.
I rarely use fire as a warlock. My 2 shadow dots are instant cast, unless Im
fighting elites I just dont need another dot, especially one that takes a
while to cast. Besides, 3 dots tends to pull agro.

It's a bit like Furor in the resto tree. I get the impression that
Blizz wanted to add them, but couldn't fit them into the feral tree so
put a tenuous link between the talents and the word "restoration".
