Nothing specific, I'm just curious as to how many EQ players have
tried VG or are currently playing it.

And if you're playing it *instead* of EQ that would be interesting as
well.

I moved from EQ to VG primarily because friends did. They like the
crafting better, diplomacy is cool, and it's newer/shinier. The last
part plays very little into the reason, crafting was the single
biggest reason I think.
Personally I hated crafting in EQ, EQ2, and still do in VG. Crafting
to me is too much like work so I just kill bozo's.

But if they had not moved to VG I would still be playing EQ. I only
have time for one and playing an ok game with friends is better than
playing a better game with strangers.
I think VG will rival EQ (in my brain anyway) but it will be a year or
so.

I was in beta about a month before they went live.

I got tired of the slide show and opted out.

The experience of graphics and computer speed varies, sometimes
speed of the computer doesn't seem to make a difference as to the
quality of the display.

I'm on one of the unofficial EQ forums, and most of the people there
who went to VG left; however, thats not a large sample of players.

Vanguard said they would be increasing the graphics.

I'm not buying a new computer just to play one game.

I played awhile. Seems like once you hit 50 its mostly faction grind, which
I could have put up with except at about that point it started becoming
harder to find a group because so many had quit. So I went to lotro. I
went back to try vg again when I had 1 day left on my subscription and found
that the hitching and ctds were no longer tolerable after playing a game
that was smooth.

I'm still there and playing it, in a good aussie guild with plenty of people
online.
Server merges on the horizon though, I wish they would get it over and done
with to remove any uncertainty.

Tried it, performance was so bad never went back (to get any performance I
had to play in a world in which everyone was purely a blob).

Played it in late beta (still have the icon on my desktop actually)
but I didn't see anything that would make me want to play it instead
of EQ.

Hard to say how good it could have been had they not ran out of money.

Tried it, found out my computer is not up to it, dropped it.

I tried it using a buddy key for a free trial sometime after release,
but it drove my system to its knees. I can run around in PoK or the
bazaar with all PCs visible without any lag, and my system plays LOTRO
okay too with acceptable (though not maxed) graphics settings, but even
with most of the graphics turned way down I found Vanguard was far too
laggy to play, and if a lot of "new" content became visible at once
(like when I was running up an arching ramp leading to a tree-house elf
city and reached the point where the city would become visible) my whole
machine would lock up so badly I had to power cycle it.

What I did see of the game looked pretty nice. I was intrigued by the
idea of the Diplomacy sub-game but never got a chance to try it because
I locked up too often just trying to reach the city with my trainer.
