Post subject: Anyone played Life Stories?
Archived from groups: alt>games>the-sims (more info?)

Well, I finally finished playing Riley's Story, before having a baby, my
last goal was to throw a house party, and after failing the first time
around, I tried the second time around and finally I met my goal.
Next, was the icon changed to, "The Story of Ridley is finished, now you
can go in any direction you want" and the next thing that happened, the
game automatically went to the beginning mode, and now, low-and-behold,
The Neighborhood is now open and shows all the households and who lives
there, not only that I can move the family to any houses I choose, but
also I can now use all the cheats I want.
So in other words, it's now a free play situation, I can make or break
the Harlow Family.
Anyone here have got that far with life stories yet?
I keep seeing threads on Seasons, but not too many on Life Stories.
Anyone here like to share any thoughts on Life Stories?
Now, I'll give the Harlows a break and go to Vincent's Story and start
raising hell!
LOL! Smile

Well, people talked about bit about LS when it was first released but I
think most of us with the main game didn't bother buying it since it's just
a cut down version of the main game. As I understand it, once the stories
are over, it's basically Sims 2 without so many options.

Best wishes

Your right about that Maxon, it is like the basic sims 2 without the
other goodies that the core game has, I'm not sure if pets is worth it
or not but, I think that Castaways is going to make a big splash!
But for now, Vincent's Story so far seems to be a bit naughty.
Keep on simming!

That's only because mine are too busy begutting to begot.

Besides, something awful has happened to Pellagra Point. It's crashing,
bygum, and errors are rife.
Must check last lot of downloads. 8(
Putting them all into alphabetical folders has made things very difficult.
Can;t remember what I downloaded last. Have to check dates in every single
folder.
Argh.
Moral: keep last downloads isolated until you have run the game a few times.
grumble-grumble.

I've been playing LS a little bit. I had a "scare" about a month ago that
put me in the hospital for a couple of days and I was going bonkers...I had
my hubby bring me my laptop, latched on to some nearby neighbor's open
wireless and downloaded LS from EA Downloader. I play it occassionally when
my son insists that he must be on my computer. (Usually, he is content with
my laptop). I can't stand television so on those evenings, I play LS.

I guess I'm about halfway through Riley's story. I haven't checked
Vincent's yet or the open play mode. I like it okay. I wouldn't prefer it
as my main Sims outlet, but it is going to be great this summer when we go
on vacation. My laptop is company issued so I don't have any control over
the specs and can't upgrade. I was pleased to find that LS runs just fine
on it so I have portable Sims. That was my main purpose in getting LS and
it has served me well.

Are there any cheats or custom content available for LS? I really haven't
looked since I've only played a handful of times.

I've played them. I liked the basic concept - but I want the option to port
my played Neighbourhoods into S2. I played for the stories not the fact that
they'd ripped the guts out of the engine.

Maybe when SimPE is updated I'll recreate the Neighbourhoods - I don't think
I even want to try for base game.

If you think that's naughty you need to read mine or granny's stories.
Granny does the dire mayhem and evil plotting and Lakeside (mine) seems to
have degenerated into begatting.

Yes, that was one of the main selling points. I've just suggested to a
friend of mine that she get LS because she has a laptop that won't run the
main game (she keeps coming over to play mine).

Apprently, quite a lot of the cc and hacks work for both - it is essentially
the same game. Most of what I've read is 'try it and see'.

Best wishes

To answer your question for Blue Jeans,
on free play, you can use cheats on that, as for Ridleys and Vincent's
Story, you have to compleate the story, after you have done so, you can
use the cheats at your dissposal at any time you like.
I'm not sure if all of the cheats are availble on LS, but I do know that
maxmotives, motherlode, and aspirationLevel 30 works just fine, still
not sure of the others as yet.
I hope this answers your questions, as Maxon would say, "CHEERS!"
