I wanted to show someone at work a Sim movie, but without Sims on the machine,
the codec isn't there...

Any idea as to where to get just the codec... and install it?

I can't put the Sim game on the computer at work!! But maybe the codec would be
unnoticed...

There is no auto load internet stuff... has to be on CDR.

Thanks!

I use ALshow for the avi files - it was freeware. You could try Googling
for it. However, they do open in Windoze movie player too.

Best wishes

Well, there's a little app called Gspot that'll tell you exactly which codec
an AVI file uses. IIRC it's free. Gives you the 4C code and sometimes a
little info on what that means, also shows which installed codecs (if any)
on a machine will display it. You don't even need the right one already
installed - if missing you can google the 4C code for the right codec. Now
if only I could remember where I got my copy from (hell, I'd forgotten I had
it until I freaked out at seeing gspot.exe tucked away and
wondering...adult content or not?)

Another option is to recode the avi file on your home system to something
the work machine will accept

or even upload it to youtube or similar where it won't need the codec
installed on the work machine to view it
