Hi Folks,
Out of curiosity: has anyone tried x-plane and compared it to FS9? I
can't even install the demo. It comes as a zip file and once extracted
and the exe file run for installation, all it does is generates a log
file.
If the full version is anything like the demo installer, i'll stick
with FS9. Also am trying the open source program 'flight gear' so far
it seems ok, a few bugs but it's a work in progress. heres the log
file if anyone is interested:

I was so impressed by the Demo, I bought the
6 DVD set. 60 gigs installed.
It doesn't require the computing power, memory or
graphics.
There are pros and cons vs FS/9. It's smoother, more
realistic flying (FAA approved with the correct hardware)
Airport charts are included 'inside' the program, as you choose
an airport. The 1 computer generated voice is boring.
No buildings are airports, but the graphics are different in such
a way as to be smoother. Lots of downloads of course.
I will be flying both FS/X, FS/9 and X-plane.

Oh.....I forgot to mention. X-Plane does not use Registry or
any windows components. And NO it doesn't create a desktop
shortcut (its in their documentation)
It installs in it's own directory, with an executable.
Search for x-plane.exe and create a shortcut on your desktop.
Enjoy
