I concur! Though I have many online friends (mostly on various online
RPGs), I've had no one to talk to about Resident Evil until now. I
usually go through phases -- months where I live and breath RE 24/7,
then need to take a few months away from it to get my head straight
again (I know it's time to take a breather when I want to reach for an
imaginary shotgun to clear the 'zombies' from my path when shopping).
Still, RE is never far from my thoughts. Dunno why, since I'm really
not into video games at all...except for Resident Evil. It's almost an
obsession! >> Stay informed about: this place is brill |

Have you ever seen the zombie episode of Spaced?
A similar thing happens to one of the main characters in that...

>I don't think I've ever seen Spaced, no. Not sure I've even heard of it.
It starred Simon Pegg , who went on to star in (and write) "Shaun of
the Dead". Apparently he's a big fan of Resi.
As I said, one Spaced episode started with him hunting zombies in his
flat (he's actually playing RE 2, but he's got way too engrossed and is
fantasising). As the opening credits come up, the accompanying theme is
the music you hear when Claire or Leon first enters the police
building. There are clips of the game throughout the episode as well.
I encounter "shopping zombies" as well. I refer to them as SLIDs -
short for "Stood Looking Incredibly Dopey" as they always seem to stand
in your way totally oblivious to the tailback they're causing. They
seem to be genetically engineered to subconciously select the the most
annoying place to stand...

I too concur! This place has turned out to be the best thing next to playing
RE games. I was relieved to find out I'm not so alone with this obsession.
I'm not so sure about clearing the "shopping zombies", but I do have the
urge to kick down every ladder I see!

I've never actually handled a firearm IRL, and I'm sure if zombies ever
did invade my hometown, I'd be one of the first eaten. Even if I did
manage to get my hands on a shotgun, I'd probably not only miss the
first time I fired it, I'd end up flat on my back from the recoil, and
the zombies would just chow down. However, when I'm desperately trying
to wade through people at a store, all of whom seem intent upon
shuffling along like mindless zombies, taking up the whole aisle, I have
to admit there's a part of me that would like to have a machette, at the
very least. I mean really, how long can you stare at a box fan or a jar
of pickles before you decide if you want it or not? At the very least,
pull your cart off to the side and let me past! Toys are always in the
back of the store, and they're calling to me! Can't you hear them?

Better still, a whole *film* was spawned from that one episode!
Shaun Of The Dead is a film you either love or hate, a lot of people I
know hated it as they didn't get the Resident Evil/George Romero parody
thing.
Their loss, I think it rules. Especially with al the DVD extras.
Cheers,
Rob

Y'know, even now I ponder on what would happen if there was a virus
outbreak akin to RE or '28 Days Later'. Living in London, the latter
seems like a scary reality that might just happen.
Funny story: A gang of friends spent a week in Devon generally
pottering around (As you do) and we went shooting. One friend was so
confident he could fire a shotgun properly that he ended up in A&E with
a broken collarbone due to the recoil....

You haven't seen the jars as advertised by Jenna Jameson then ;o)

Sometimes I wonder if I'm lucky living in rural Iowa or not. On the one
hand, this is the least likely place for a terrorist attack or viral
outbreak. On the other hand, if there were some sort of RE-like
outbreak anywhere in the US, I'd have to watch in horror all the TV
images, knowing that, eventually, it was gonna get here. Sure, I'd have
time to prepare, but to get any decent weapons, I'd need to go to a
larger town, where everyone else would also be grabbing/hoarding
weapons. Plus everyone knows that if you leave home at a time like
that, you never make it back alive.

That's exactly what I always picture happening when I ponder buying any
sort of firearm. I'd either break my neck, or end up shooting off my
own body parts trying to load it.

I'm...not sure who that is. I know, I'm so lame.

What'd their motto used to be? The nighttime sniffling, sneezing,
coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever, festering boils, bloody fistsful
of hair falling out, explosive diarreah, Bubonic plague, so you can
sleep medicine? All I know is, I take it, I sleep, and I feel a bit
better when I wake...for an hour, at least. Then I'm all sick again.
Itchy...tasty. >> Stay informed about: this place is brill |
