Hi Im a noob.
I m used to play 2nd addition rules and I just started playing again
about 3 months ago. I belong to the RGPA and play in the Ebberon
campaign setting of "mark of heros" through WOTC.

We just got a level bump to level 7 and I was wondering what I sould do
to make the perfect Rogue. I have a female elven rogue. With 2 handed
weapon fighting, 2HD Def. , And Weapon finesse. I have gauntlets of dex
+2 to give her 20 dex.
Whave else should I do?

What makes up a better rogue?

Any input would be helpful
Thanks!

Rogues are feat poor. I'd take a level
of Swashbuckler and pick up Weapon
Finesse for free, and two levels of fighter.
Just for the feats.

Not familiar with Eberron, so take what I say with a grain o' salt.

Two weapon fighting? Using two short swords, or rapier/short sword?

What *kind* of rogue? Combat oriented?

> Rogues are feat poor. I'd take a level of Swashbuckler and pick up Weapon Finesse

I think he already has Weapon Finesse.

Fighter is good. Feats are good.
It's too late now, but the munchkin in me woulda suggested a few levels
of fighter for the BAB and feats (or Ranger to get Two Weapon fighting
for free and have lots of skill points for hide and moving)

You could check out Shadowdancer (you need the Dodge and Mobility
feats, 10 ranks in Hide, 8 in Move silently and 5 in Perform (dance),
IIRC). Hide in Plain Sight is good.

In fact there is no perfect rogue, there's only the perfect Ninja!

You're going to need to provide more information. It's not enough to say
you want to be the "perfect" Rogue. Perfect Rogue for what? Sneak Attack?
Trapfinding and disarming? Opening locks? Picking pockets? Finding out
information?

There are lots of things that a Rogue can do well. You need to tell us a
bit more about the character's concept.

The automatic secret door finding is pretty nice if you are the one
with all the points in search. I've been really wishing the current
game I'm running the spellthief had been an elf instead of human, would
have found so much now. The favored class of wizard might be nice for
a dip, or possibly going toward arcane trickster or archer as well.

You also left out Dwarves - ton of bonuses, has autosearch on
stonework, good con, and really important - darkvision for sneaking
around and stabbing people in the back in the dark. Don't make the
best faceman rogues though.

Even half-orcs make good sneak/sneak-attack/combat rogues, with the str
& darkvision.

Even Gnomes are o.k. (although IMHO the worst of the core) with the
ghost sound & prestidigitation.

Step one: Don't be an elf. Wink
But I'll assume it's too late for that.

"Optimal" for rogues is generally human (extra feat and skill points)
or halfling (lots of kewl bonuses).

I've had some luck following the Dodge, Mobility, etc. feat tree...

Um... Check out Poison Dusk Lizardfolk. MMIII. Pretty damn nasty for
the +1 LA cost.

Goblins are also fantastic rogues.

What use is prestidigitation, exactly? I don't really understand the spell.

Poison Dusk Lizardfolk aren't allowed in Mark of Heroes, alas.
You can be a goblin if you have the right campaign card, though.
