Post subject: original tribes question
Archived from groups: alt>games>starsiege>tribes (more info?)

I just installed the original Starsiege Tribes on my new windows XP
machine and it works fine, except that I can't get it to to play with
3D support (I have an ATI x1300 pci graphics card!). Is there any
information on getting the original starseige tribes to work with
newer 3d cards?

Also, does anyone still play the original game online?

Thanks for any help,
John

Sorry, I wasn't that clear: When I go the graphics settings, I only
have software as an option. I can't change it to hardware (it's
grayed out). I'm trying to get the game to play with hardware support
using my x1300 graphics card.

Hi. Not sure what you mean by 3d support - do you mean hardware as opposed
to software?

Last time I looked, there were lots of servers with players on, although
they are often playing mods.

It's something to do with OpenGL support on your card. Looks fine on mine
in "software" with OpenGL selected?

I seem to remember there was something to do with an ini file - maybe
someone else remembers on here?

It is a driver issue. If you use the drivers that come with the OS, or
from Windows Update, those often seem to be really odd when it comes to
OpenGL. Try downloading the latest driver from the manufacturor (in
this case, ATI)
