Why do you bother with IVAO when there is VATSIM? IVAO is usually
empty when I look at it. I've seen 1600 aircraft at a time on VATSIM.
And most of the activity in VATSIM is concentrated in Europe and the
United States (depending on the time of day).
I'll answer your questions for VATSIM:
> 1)can VATSIM display add on aircraft ?
Yes.
> 2)can fs9 connect to VATSIM ?
Yes.
> 3)does VATSIM contain voice communication btw gamers ?
Yes. You have your choice of voice or text communication.
> 4)max lateral and vertical distance two gamers 'see' each other in VMC
Ten nautical miles (a limit imposed by MSFS). However, radio
communications extend further.
> 5)is weather (clouds,fog,precipitation) displayed in VATSIM
Yes, real-time weather is the only option. The VATSIM network keeps
all weather up to date.
> 6)max number of other gamer aircraft in my vicinity can be displayed
I'm not sure of the upper limit, I believe it is imposed by MSFS.
I've seen at least two dozen at once in some cases (at busy airports).
> 7)does VATSIM contain a TCAS
Yes.
> 8)is the tranponder function modelled in VATSIM
Yes. You can see the queries from other aircraft and radar hitting
your Mode C or S transponder.
> 9)do gamers hear engine sounds of other nearby gamers
Yes.
> 10) what a/c animations (gearUP/DOWN,doors,flap
> settings,lights,feathered prop)can be displayed in VATSIM
I'm rarely close enough to see in detail, but I know gear is visible,
and lights. This depends on what individual players set in their
parameters, though.
> 11) does VATSIM display liveries correctly
Yes.
> What else VATSIM advantages.
VATSIM is the place to be if you want simulation that is as rigorously
close to real life as possible, including live air traffic control.
On the other hand, VATSIM is not a gaming network, and hardcore gamers
are not welcome (people pretending to be military fighter planes
strafing other aircraft, people pretending to be hijacked, people
looking for baby elephants, and other similar wastes of time). You
are expected to fly exactly as in real life, including observation of
all regulations and all real-world restrictions (no slewing at
lightspeed, no starting on the runway, etc.).
