I don't know if the first bit affected the second, but to put you in the
picture a child at school got one of thosechance cards that keep popping up,
this one being about kid with a radio controlled car at show and tell,
should she speak now or wait until recess. She waited, and the result was
apparently that she and the person got on well and she was inviting said
person home. I have had that before and that time no-one came back.

This time the child comes home on the bus and wants to bring home Andrea
Hogan. Her dad is friends with the adult version, but I assumed this was
another, you know how there can be several same named sims. But no, the
adult one got off the bus.

I have never seen a child bring home an adult from school before.

Sounds like borkage. In other words, I don't think it should be an adult so
there is file corruption somewhere.

Best wishes

I've never seen an adult get off the bus, either, but I have never had
anyone bring home a friend after a chance card said they would; I've
had that same card several times with the same no-friend result.

I'm wondering, just on the off-chance, do you have the boolProp cheats
tool enabled? It has to be one of the most powerful, all-reaching
cheats in the game, but it can mess up a game big-time, and
permanently, requiring re-installation. I now use it for spawning
certain items and quick things I can do/use on Pause, then disabling
it before un-Pausing. I've had it really mess me up in the past with
error messages and, after I installed Free Time, permanently blanking
out all wants and fears so that the Sim can never have anything to
which to Aspire and raise them to gold and platinum. Nor could I un-
do that disaster *S* so I had to delete that Sim and start over.
Fortunately, it didn't affect the neighborhood or rest of the game
that time...

So maybe if you're using boolProp, that could be what's messing you up?

No, that cheat is completely safe. I play with it turned on all the
time because it's in my userstartup.cheat file. All it will do is alert
you to errors in the game, it cannot cause any on it's own. If you had
trouble with blank want slots that sounds more like game file corruption
or a borked neighborhood which is usually caused by deleting sims or
putting occupied houses into the lot bin or trying to move existing sims
from one neighborhood to another.

No No No it can't.

If you had to reinstall, it was something YOU did, not the cheat. Calling
it boolprop instead of Debug Mode (it's proper name) shows your ignorance of
what the cheat actually does. I play with it on all the time like many
experienced players.

I now use it for spawning

This is not Debug Mode - it's something else, probably neighbourhood
corruption. I bet you delete sims from the sim bin, pack up and reinstall
lived in lots and download lots from the Exchange.

She is and it's irrelevant.

Why are people STILL coming out with this nonsense?

Best wishes

Please excuse my apparent "ignorance" (as you call it) but I must ask
also that you PLEASE stop with the condescension and talking down to
me. Every time something like this happened (which was only a couple
of times), it happened exactly after I used "Debug
Mode" (SOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry I called it boolProp, apologies forever as
it seems to have freaking offended you) as in *immediately* after and
it was a newly created Sim every time, not a transplanted one.

I AM an experienced player, having played since the very beginning and
Sims 1, but this is the first time I've actually talked with other
players to any extent. I am asking you as politely as I can (as I am
feeling resentful and angry) to NOT call me ignorant again. I called
it boolProp because that's the beginning of the damn cheat string, is
that so hard to understand?

I may have misunderstood your text and you were not attempting to be
condescending, but that's how you came across with me by using phrases
like "your ignorance," "many experienced players," and "this
nonsense." I don't appreciate it, and I'm rather certain if the shoe
was on the other foot, neither would you.

Thank you, Katy ... I think that was one of those times I should have
pushed back from the keyboard and thought things over before posting.
In a feeble excuse, I can only try to explain that I've come from a
different, non-Sims related group that was fairly bursting with mean
posters, and so I reacted from that expectation.

Maxon, I apologize for the upset reply, and I'm glad that it was a
misunderstanding on my part. I imagine this won't be the last faux
pas I commit *S* since I'm a newbie to this group.

ummm...interjecting a note here...this is one of those times when oceans
get in the way....maxon is one of the most (along with MM, Jeanie and
Kat...for God's sake PULEEZE I didn't elave anyone out htis time!) and
knows whereof whe speaks about the game functions. I think you [probably
read in more to her comment than was intended. We are all used to each
other here and blast each other in a friendly and sharpedged knife sort
of way all the time. Most of us do not yse emoticons or smilies to
empahsize the mood we are writing in becasue we all know eahc other well
enough that we KNOW what mood we're writing in. So sometimes, to someone
new, it might look like we're making ad hominem attacks or are extremely
bitchy (which we are but most of us are hovering between 40-60 somewhere
and female so that's that excuse)...Just read for awhile and take things
here with a grain of salt.

You don't need to apologise but if you're going to post on newsnet, I'd
suggest a thicker skin. That's not meant to be condescending, BTW, my
response to you was MILD, believe me.

Oh and 'boolprop' is a function of the cheat - being short for Boolean
Property - which tells you what it is and what it does. There are at least
8 'boolprop' cheats I can think of in the game without having to look
anything up.

Best wishes

I would say, don't worry about that. Wink

katie is right, we tend to know each other and read posts knowing the oerson
behind it, because we have read so many posts from them. maxon is right,
usenet is a robust medium and it is best to decide not to be offended by
anything but yell back if you want.Smile

For the record, I didn't really think anything of you calling it "boolprop"-
I think I have done the same at times, but I think of it as playing with
"cheats enabled" that being the bit that applies in this case.
