Well, it was interesting. I learned a lot, and lost most of my fear of UT.
My buddy (Hammerdin) collected a keyset, and wanted to know if I could
handle UT. Brought my IK barb in for BO. Absolutely no deaths from the
mini ubers, and all was well.
Explained the basics to my friend while standing around the portal, and in
we went. Walked down to Mephy, who insisted on dragging Baal and company
out with him, where I promptly died (I'm still getting the hang of switching
weapons, auras, and lifetapping all in about half a second). Somehow, my
friend lured mephy up by the river by himself, and after another death or
two, he was by the portal. And then he died. Pure and simple once LT was
activated.
On to Baal; Here I learned a very important lesson. You can't smite when
Baal is being lured away by a teleporting hammerdin. Died again because of
that, and explained that teleing in UT doesn't really help the cause. Baal
prompty died after that little lesson.
Diablo - easiest of the bunch, only summoned about 10 minions, died, and
then I took care of the remaining minions. Fairly simple. The reward was a
13/19 Assassin Torch, not great, but I should be able to trade it for
something for my friend. All in all, I only died about 5 or 6 times, which
in my book is pretty good. It took longer to collect the organs than it did
to get the torch.

I noticed too that there seems to be some kind of lag load when mepf
spawns and possibly even when he moves about and calls up minions. My
pally has 2 wins against him and 2 losses, not solo.
I'm wondering if I have to give him a chance to settle in where he is
at before I switch and cast LT cuz upon switching there is no
salvation. Then again your IK barb prolly had no salvation unlessthe
hammerdin had some on.
BTW how the hell does a hammerdin tap life, or is he just praying to
stay saive while while casting?

Yes LT seems to be the key. Now I ahve to find out how much a charge
cost to repair by bringing my Marrows to Larzuk. Perhaps it will be
cheaper to use the Ral/ flawed gem in the cube. I've been saving a few
flaweds just in case.

Way to go and thanks for going into the game the other night to help my
stepsons dad.
I'll be glad to join you in UT if you need some more Smiting. When one
person stands back and casts lifetap I think it is easier to get things
going. Weapon/Skill switching during a rucous seems to be unreliable
some times.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that I had my smiter there. My barb was there
just for his lovely singing.
