| There seems to be a great deal of the Myst story (when playing the games)
about D'ni survivors. Out of curiosity, what exactly happened to them?

You should read the books.

They were for a while, but then they were reprinted. I have all three
in a collection book which I believe is still in print (I got it at
Chapters.)
To answer your original question, however: (Spoilers for the books)
The D'ni nation, in case you weren't aware, was constructed in a
gigantic underground cavern somewhere beneath the surface of the Earth.
There's a tunnel that leads out to the surface and comes up somewhere
in New Mexico. If I'm not mistaken, these areas (which are described in
the books in some detail) are also explored by "you" in Uru, and more
directly, the To D'ni expansion.
The birth and early life of Gehn, Atrus's father and the first
half-breed between D'ni and humans sparked off a civil war of sorts that
culminated in the D'ni caverns being filled with some sort of biological
agent that killed most of the D'ni. The insurgents also dumped infected
bodies through all the linking books they could find to kill off those
who fled to other Ages. Despite this, some D'ni managed to escape and
avoid infection, among them Gehn. >> Stay informed about: D'ni disater? |

I am not going to read the spoiler as I've found out that the three books
are sold at Amazon. I'll wait until then and read it.

When I first read the books (years ago), I recall that the authors were
quite careful to NOT say where the Cleft was. I went happily along
believing it was in North Africa, perhaps Algeria or Morrocco, and was
disappointed when I saw the "Keep Out" sign in Uru:To D'ni indicating it was
in our own back yard, so to speak. Much less exotic.
Perhaps the Rand brothers, being from Oregon, thought that New Mexico was
exotic enough...

Actually it's the Miller Brothers, and they are from New Mexico. The
youngest was born in Alberquerque.
I also believe that they left the location of the cleft purposefully vague
until they researched into the possibilities more.
Knowing the D'ni, it's possible both theories are correct... ; )

Oops, me bad. I was, of course thinking of Rand Miller and got the name
reversed... . I do recall, however, reading there was a connection with
Portland for some reason...?

Has tried this with earnings and all works!!! Has come across it at one forum and has decided to try. Wandering as it is usual on different sorts to forums, I find this clause in which it is spoken that it is possible to make thousand dollars for couple of weeks at an investment only 6 $.
Further there was spoken, that it is necessary to translate on 1 WMZ on 6 purses of known payment system WebMoney. After transfer money, exclude from the list the very first number, and in the end of the list write the and throw on 200 various forums. Any dodges ? Well I have reflected and have thought, that I lose nothing except for 6 WMZ both has decided to try + And guess that!!! In four days at me the purse has started to replenish. I was in a shock!!! But at once has thought, that on it all and to end
In the first week I have made 18WMZ, further by the end of the second week already it is more 800 WMZ + to the middle of 3-rd week 6580WMZ +!!! A fourth week and I have already counted 15 000 WMZ and the sum grows very quickly. And this all only for the price in 6 WMZ!!! I was in very bad economic situation before have come across this clause!
I have not believed that it works yet I have not started to receive money + has bought all that is necessary to me + and it very opportunely, will agree?! + and now I shall tell to you as it works also the most important WHY +!
I to you guarantee, that if you in accuracy will observe below the listed instructions YOU WILL start TO RECEIVE much more money than you thought, not applying on it of special efforts. The offer: Прочтите it few times! Follow instructions and MONEY WILL start TO ACT in your purses. Will agree it SIMPLY!!! It LEGALLY. And your contribution makes only 6 WMZ + IMPORTANT: It not a deceit and it is not illegal, thus you risk nothing, but it works!!!
NOTICE: Follow instructions in ACCURACY and 50 000 WMZ and will be yours during from 20 till 60 days more. ALL THIS SUCCESSFULLY WORKS OWING TO HONESTY of PARTICIPANTS!
If you are interested, here the list of purses in system WebMoney on which it is necessary to send on 1 WMZ:------------------------------------
1 z160240779720
2 z174506043950
3 z199234983797
4 z401164413477
5 z921916987898
6 z151434944880
After transfer money, exclude from the list the FIRST number, and in the end of the list ADD the . Now it is necessary to place only the information at forums and to receive profit. Place this clause at not less than 200 forums. REMEMBER, than more you place that above there will be your income and this income will depend directly on you. >> Stay informed about: D'ni disater? |
