Hobby-wise, July was another slow month.

I spent a couple days reshuffling my storage cases, so more minis cased
and fewer loose.

My main current project is to finish my Assault Marines. From a base of
15 built and painted, I've finished building 6, and have another 21 in
progress. For the math-phobic, that's a whopping 42 Assault Marines!

I'm building them with a base of 6 squads of 6:
2x 6 Assault Marines w/ Lighting Claw Veteran, 2 Plasma Pistols;
2x 6 Assault Marines w/ Power Weapon Veteran, 2 Plasma Pistols; and
2x 6 Assault Marines w/ Power Fist Veteran, 2 Flamers.

The remaining 6 models will probably be 4 bulk and 2 plasma pistols,
although I should sell a squad.

In other news, I've finished prepping a 5 more Sisters and another
Stormtrooper (completes the GL squad).

Also prepped 2 Dreadnought Assault Cannons, so all 3 Dreads can be armed
with Rending goodness. Wink

With some luck, I'll finish the Space Marines this month, or at least
the Assault Marines.

What have the rest of you been up to?

A single lightning claw or a pair? 15pts for a single claw is pretty
good for single wound models, but I'm reluctant to pay twice the price
to get a pair. I think that the cost of paired lightning claws should
have been 30/20 and not 30 for all as it is now. In the same vein I
also think that the thunder hammer cost should have been 30/20 (at
least for Salamanders).

Spearmen, spearmen, spearmen. I've painted 12 high elf spearmen,
retouched and rebased four more, and have started painting the final
batch of 8 that will finish the unit. Here's a photo of the 16 that
are finished:

http://crux.id.gu.se/LirBilder/jockelinde/spearmen.JPG

To the left in the photo is a test build of the Nurgle lord/lieutenant
with daemonic speed. I had a look at the 2nd Ed. hormagaunt arms, but
ended up using the Brood lord blades for legs. The manreaper just
won't stay attached with putty alone and isn't shown in the photo.

I've been thinking about painting the figures from Robo Rally for about 10
years now and have finally gotten started.

Reboxing and packing all my minis for my impending move (I've got about
15 lbs of termies). along with the rest of my hobby room (garage). I
figure maybe by January I can try to begin painting again. Good thing GW
has some good looking computer games coming up. Smile

Also buying some Krootox and hounds, at 2004 prices, to bulk up my
kroot, who I never wanted in my Tau army to start with. Oh and the
spiffy Chaplain with Jump pack.

[OT] Mythic the people working on the Warhammer MMORPG just got bought
by EA and are now called EA:Mythic. This is good news for actually
getting the game out this decade.

Very cool! I should dig up a copy of that game.

That's a lot of Termies! I'm guessing you've got a full 1st Company
there! Surprised

Heh. This year, I finally sold the last of my Kroot. XD

I 've been thinking about stripping my Robo Rally Minis and re-doing
them. For the current paint job truy sucketh. I love that game but hate
playing it at cons.

True, you'll get the game out this decade, but it may well be next
decade before EA gets out a patch that fixes the patch that fixes the
initial release problems (and breaks a bunch of other stuff along the
way). EA games is notorious for their less than stellar job when it
comes to patching games. I'm a fan of Battlefield 2 - but (for example)
their 1.3 patch needs a patch to fix the server crash and in game server
browser issues its created. (Not to mention some of the earlier issues
that still aren't fixed 3 patches later.) In addition EA Games kindly
shut down a bunch of its console gaming servers for their various sport
games franchises - *INCLUDING* last years games. Thus rending the games
largely useless for multi player gaming. I'd be mighty pissed if I'd
bought a game last year and suddenly discovered that a major component
was rendered inoperable just to force yearly *full price* upgrades.

Full pair, because it'll look better.

Yeah, they should have differentiated. The single claw is 25/15, so
Characters (Heroes) really get a discount on paired Claws. Maybe paired
should have been split 35/25?

Good progress!

Very nice! I like the contrast in the scale armour against the white
cloth.

> To the left in the photo is a test build of the Nurgle

He looks kinda puny for Nurgle, but maybe that's why he's quick. The
big problem with Nurgle is that there's no natural conversion for speed.
Slannesh has the snake bodies, so they're easier.

For 40k, I'd just go with wings. Wink

It does indeed.

A character will have a lot of attacks to start with, so adding one
more, by using a pair of claws, will increase the total killyness by a
smaller amount, so I'm fine with the +5pts it costs for a character to
go from a single claw to a pair.

This is only a test assembly to see how the brood lord blades work as
insect legs. Later he's going to be put on a strict green stuff diet,
and I expect him to gain a lot of weight. That'll probably solve the
punyness problem.

Wings would be easier, but for my Nurgle army I'm going for a
everything-walks-theme, so wings are not an option Sad

I think those legs will work well. To suggest speed/calvary give him more
of a centaur shape with an elongated lower body and maybe add an extra pair
of legs. Think bloated centipede rather than fat spider.

Close! I've got about 10 5 man squads (more if you go back to 1st ed
Space hulk) I bought most of them when they were 2 for $10. I still
suffer from a Lack of AssCans tho. About 2 sqauds are Wolfies with thier
3 ACs.

I got the army deal and the battlefore. I had too many kroot to not use
