Idea's for model - Hi all, I'm painting a Grail Knight and would like some input. First, I don't game and I'm not worried about the model looking uniform as if it were in a unit. Right now, I have the horse landing on it's front feet with the rear legs extended in hopes..

Magnetic paint um..[model] or [paint] - I picked up a can of Krylong magnetic paint, not actually magnetic, but is the kind of paint that pagnets can stick to. I'm thinking of sticking neodynium magnets on my bases, and spraying this stuff on movement trays. Also, I think it'd be good to use it

[model]Rare Earth Magnet - I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a good site for these and recommend a size to use on 28mm sized models. the 40K miniature range. Thanks in advance for any help.

[model] [paint] Hobby Progress? - July was another slow month. I spent a couple days my storage cases, so more minis cased and fewer loose. My main current project is to finish my Assault Marines. From a base of 15 built and painted, I've finished building 6,..

[Model] Favorite Metallic Paints? - So over the last year or so I've been gradually replacing my old paints with Vallejo paints, which I love, but I've been hanging onto and nursing along my old pots of GW metallic because I still like them. But I just can't stand the terrible GW paint.

As I haven't been hanging around in any seedy GW retailers I'm a bit behind
on the blandization of the GW range, and I have an urge to create some
cross over miniatures for a d20 modern day.

Can people comment on what GW fantasy plastics could be tooled up with
firearms.

I had thought about converting Night Goblin spears to rifles with a bit of
green stuff but there must be a host of things that could be tooled up with
some plastic guns or something.

The Cadian IG arms with the laser rifle look reasonably like a modern rifle.
I mean, if you kind of squint and/or do some modifications to that.
Also maybe the empire crossbow sprue, if you lopped of the crossbow part.
Dunno if any of that helps.

The current Orc range for WHFB is simple as pie to convert to ORKs

Uh... d20 modern day? Why would you use WFB plastics? Or are you just
using the term "fantasy" generically?

Imperial Guard has a really good variety of figures that could represent
various nations. If you expand out to the Forgeworld line ($$$!) then
you have even more variety.

I guess I'm hung up on the stated 'd20 modern day' statement. That
implies real life combatants, not sci fi aliens (at least to me).

Now if you wanted to make a Shadowrun type thingie, they WFB would be a
great source of Vampires, Zombies and Dwarfs to load up with guns. Smile

Ah. I wondered about the Fantasy <-> Modern thing myself.
I recommend the Fantasy Empire Militia Regiment box set.
Each Militia sprue of 4 leg/ torsos -

http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.uk?do=Individual&code=99...202004&

- includes 2 Crossbows and 2 Muzzle Loaders.

Left-over bits, like the longbows, could uparm additional figs.

Well you see the guys I game with are fond of Warhammer Quest. I like
it for about half and hour and then I find myself wishing I wasn't
driving so I could drink myself insensible.

So I figured I'd use d20 modern and the scenery, tiles, and miniatures
we have and make an episodic skirmish game using full RPG combat rules.
Urban Arcana with tooled up fantasy monsters is one of the basic
settings, as is Shadow Chaser (think Buffy). Fits perfectly with a
diverse mini collection. Structuring your game so it runs like the
average geek TV series makes it fit into an ad hoc gaming session of 2-5
hours.

So for example the first game will see a bunch of Heroes with the
occupation students working at a Wild West theme park.

So obviously we can use Foundry Cowboys of which we're well supplied. I
can by some of Eric Hotz's White Wash city buildings
http://www.erichotz.com/whitewash.html for scenery.

Each player can pick a mini and a Hero I've prepared earlier. Each hero
will have a list of some things they know that comes with it.

They'll start on the far table edge to the gate. (They’re packing up)

Then I’m think a few Zombies appear. They have to fight them with
improvised weapons.

After that combat they can make a choice of running for the gate in
which case it will be a big zombie bash, or to investigate which will
lead to being able to overcome a couple of noncombat challenges such as
finding ammo for their guns, then a couple of small combats followed by
a boss monster.

Next game could be going out to an Uncle’s farm to investigate some
missing stock. Is it rustlers? Well yes but they’re a small tribe of
Goblins that has slipped through to the world and tooled themselves up
with shotguns etc (w00t a job for me old Grots).

People can either just start again as a new generic hero each time, or
they can choose to progress their Hero, and we can move on to using
gnarly minis like Foundary’s street violence range, or Mind Flayers.
And who doesn’t love putting a Mind Flayer down on the table. That's
all good for single high value villians, but I though I might be able to
get some good rent a violence mobs out of the GW plastics.

Ah OK. So some cyberpunk meets Buffy the vampire slayer. I get it.

WFB should be just the ticket for your Zombie, Skeleton and Ghostly
needs. Hero figures could pretty much come from the IG lineup, maybe
Sisters or Witch Hunters to put a few chicks into the hero lineup.

Nice ideas, you have zombies already, if not I suggest the zombie game and
the add on bags of glow in the dark ones and dogs.

For rent a thug there is an obvious GW range, Catachans.

I have all of those, but I don't have fantasy race rent a mob with guns.
Hence the question. Maybe I'll just have to buy every 2e 40K grot I cn get
my hands on. They're pretty wacky.

I'm doing something similar but very inexpensively with my RPG
group. I'm rolling up ovals of modeling clay and giving them faces,
little legs, and little arms holding automatic weapons. I'm going with
light green and light violet skin tones. I'm even going to model a
fallen 'Statue of Liberty' style head and torch.

I'm going to call it....

wait for it...

wait...

Planet of The Grapes!

And if any of my players ask about it - just tell them it was a
rumor you heard through the grape vine...

Surely a pun as bad as that must be a TOS violation for your ISP. I
truly expected better from you Myr. Consider yourself reported you
