| Which mod gives the ( . ) shaped health/mana bars (where the . is
your toon)
It looks like either an addition to perl classic unit frames or an
option within it, I have PCUF but don't see the option. If you have a
look for the vex vs domo video on google you can see the person
recording is using it, incase my ascii art isn't sufficient

I use MetaHUD... has been known formerly as DrathalsHUD or DHUD.
Another alternative is AceHUD.

I hate when there are so many mods that do the same thing. Do all those
suggested appear as cresent shapes or are they changeable? >> Stay informed about: Name that mod... |

MetaHUD is my choice because it allows many custom modifications. But
you'll need to check it out yourself. At least MetaHUD comes with a
handy configuration dialog and makes things easy!

I disagree with this statement
they are invaluable for pvp.
it keeps your eyes on the enemy and where he is bouncing around and not
up and down towards where ever you have player frames and target
frames.
You allways know where your health/mana and his are at. >> Stay informed about: Name that mod... |

I always know where mine are, in the top left, out of the way of other
important gameplay elements. Given that my main toon is a healer I
spend more time looking at the life bars than I do at the 3d portion of
the screen so I don't really need a plugin for this. I was just asking
because it looks nice and my friend who just started playing requested
a mod to "display a health bar above his own head" and this is a much
less obtrusive and astheticly pleasing option. It's actually quite
funny watching him fight to the death because he doesn't watch his life
bar, I've seen him do a corpse run and then pull straight away with his
rogue because he forgot you res with 50% life. had me in tears when he
pulled, got hit once, chugged a pot then died and the chat log read
"FFS!" >> Stay informed about: Name that mod... |

The thing is, each mod author has their own reasons why another mod
with similar functionality isn't quite right. If it was right then
they wouldn't code their own - they'd use the one that exists already
(assuming that they know it exists)
IceHUD has the option to have ( . ) bars and \ . / bars. I prefer the
V shape to the arc shape myself. IceHUD also includes a rogue energy
ticker for those that like to time their attacks for quickest energy
replenishment.

That UI element is the result of a discussion on the official UI forum.
It was asked if something like that is possible and was denied - due to
technical reasons. One person tricked and hacked around until he/she
found a very clever way to do it with different textures, rotation and
overall really clever design.
It was called "stat rings" if I remember correctly and due to the
coolness and novelty factors involved, got quickly adapted to many UIs.
It also got made more usable, because at first it was merely a
proof-of-concept thing.
Personally I think it's more for looks than functionality and I'm much
better off with "StatusBars" which encode more information more easily
access- and account-able for me.

Have you seen StatusBars? It is 2 bars one your
health/mana/rage/energy/combo points and one your target
health/mana/rage/energy
Unfortunately it is not being actively worked on, fortunately it still seems
to work fine. I like this addon much better than the one(s) you are talking
about with the (.) setup. >> Stay informed about: Name that mod... |

There are a few that do this. The one I use is Icehud.
