Put the mine on the ground in front of the plane.

Sometimes is does sometimes is doesn't.

I usually place the mines right under the wheels or where the plane spawn.
Most pilots don't look for them. They're in to much of hurry to jump back in
the plane and die.

press Ctrl key to crouch over mine, and use wrench (or spanner if you
are a Brit)
- this is also useful when you want to make a gap for your own team a
gap to drive thru.
(then you avoid a bad score through inadvertent TK)

don't know about planes, but if you drop a mine onto a ground vehicle,
it blows when the vehicle next moves - hilarious!
