Critical success does not equal market success. Saga, Nights, and Orta were
all short sellers. >> Stay informed about: major SEGA announcement at E3 |

Was PDS a short seller in Japan? It sold virtually nothing in the US,
but Sega produced virtually none. You can also look at it as PDS sold
through extremely quickly in the US. >> Stay informed about: major SEGA announcement at E3 |

Not really -- regardless of how few were produced, Sega USA only sold the
3000 or however many were fabricated. It came out so late in the Saturn's
lifespan that I think it's safe to say that everyone who wanted a copy *at
the time* got one. >> Stay informed about: major SEGA announcement at E3 |

There was little promotion for the game (including being seen on
shelves), so that is something of a self fulfilling prophecy.
I came to the Saturn late in its life, but early enough to be around for
that set of releases.
I didn't want PDS (I'm not an RPG fan). I did want House of the Dead,
which had similar production numbers, but which unlike PDS got slagged
critically, and there were no copies to be found in the stores near me
(I eventually got a Japanese copy, and I think it's one of the best
playing games on the Saturn, and has a certain coolness to look even if
it looks like a first gen game). It's reasonable to assume the situation
was similar for PDS, which had a positive buzz. >> Stay informed about: major SEGA announcement at E3 |
