If you group up with a couple other players to take down a monster or a mob
or monsters, do they still drop loot like when you kill them by yourself?
How does the loot get distributed?

Iirc, everytime the mob drops an item, it will be given to a member of
the group by random. The money is divided by the number of players in
your group, every player gets the same cash.

Excellent, thanks for the info. Does it work the same if you die? Last night
I joined with a few other players in Mithra's tomb. We did OK for a little
while, but eventually we all died. I don't remember any critters dropping
anything. Is all the selecting and looting stuff done automatically?

Also after I released to my bindstone the game said I was too far away from
the group to get any benefits. Did I get anything out of Mithra's tomb?

Auto loot is indeed a feature of DAoC as of a December patch.

The group leader can toggle on /autoloot and all loot that drops within
a certain radius of the leader will be autosplit among the group.
If you have a straggler who kills a mob outside of that radius a bag
will appear and he'll need to loot it manually. The autoloot feature is
terrific and really speeds up dungeon crawls from what I've seen.

Not sure why the above poster is off talking about dying and releasing
and exp, but anywho...

You (or anyone else in the group) have to select and loot manually in
your group(and it doesnŽt matter who selects and loots). If you die
before looting, the loot will stay for some time on the ground and then
disappear. Automatic looting isnŽt a feature of DAoC.

If youŽre fighting in a group, youŽll get a bonus of your group-leader,
if heŽs of a higher level than yourself (i.g. always make the highest
char groupleader with /makeleader NAME!). And for that bonus youŽll have
to be in range to this leader. If you die and release and your char will
be released in a different town than the rest of the group, you wonŽt
get any experience until you get back close to your group.

And youŽll always get xperience AND money out of a battle, if you a)
survive, b) select&loot and c) stay close to your group Smile

Hm...maybe this patch (what version?) isnŽt released in europe
yet...didnŽt know that this feature is/will be available, but your
description sounds really good Smile)

Yeah I just returned again to the game after 5 months off. (Reclaiming
real life again, etc.) I found this feature to be very nice today when
I went to kill Bres and pick up my champ weapon. The momentum was
different if that makes any sense.... we didn't even have to think
about looting, just kill and move.
