Oh good.

Is there any way of restoring lost characteristics other than the free
healing from temples?

I've somehow lost a lot of [now is it called Com or Per - the one used
for Etiquette etc]. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the
two Rings of Friendship that I've been wearing for a while (I have about
six of them so I thought I might as well wear some), now when I take
them off my Per? goes down to -9.

I have a number of potions but none of them sound like they will be
useful except the one of Purification, and that didn't help.

I'm in Dibella so I don't get the healing until rank 2 but can get
potions at rank 1.

And is there some information somewhere on what skill levels and
reputations you need for the various ranks in the various guilds?

Thanks

Gary

I don't know of any. I have never seen any potions which reset
attributes or any enchanted items which will do it, either.

In Daggerfall, wearing a constant effect item which boosts an
attribute will damage that attribute if you wear it for too long.
Avoid wearing such items unless you need them for a specific purpose.
Especially avoid wearing such items while fast travelling.

I don't think there are any potions which will heal attributes.

Try going to the person who heals you of diseases and ask for a
healing. You will be told that you have no diseases, but you may also
be asked if you would like to have your attributes reset.

The Daggerfall Chronicles (the official hint book) has this
information and you can also find it here:

If you had access to the mages guild, you could make a cheap spell that
heals 1 unit of an attribute. Cast it repeatedly until healed. Not only
does it fix the problem, it also provides training. If you for some reason
can't cast spells or are not admitted to the Mages Guild, however, there
is only the "ask for healing" option as far as I know.

So which spell effect heals attributes?

Restoration spells. They should simply be called "heal [attribute]", like
"heal strength", "heal speed" etc, if my memory serves. (My Daggerfall
machine is not functional now.)
