Archived from groups: alt>games>elder-scrolls (more info?)

Hey all,

I'm just curious what the average level is for finishing the game. I'm
level 20 and haven't even started the main quest (except for
delivering the amulet to the priory). I'm in the mages guild and have
done all the recommendations quest and one other quest for the guild.
I've done a few miscellaneous quests and have already gotten to 20!

I installed the Kobu levelling system to hopefully slow down
progression but all it has done is alleviate the stress of having to
get the high modifiers. I am using the Path of the Wheel but can I
also use it in conjunction with the slower levelling provided? I do
like this mod though Smile

It just seems like I've moved too fast and still have plenty to do. I
want to complete a lot of the mages guild quests and some fighters
guild but I don't want to be some astronomical level when I start the
main quest. I heard it can be difficult because others that you are
with will be lower in level and die because the enemies are so much
stronger too.

Oh and I haven't even enchanted anything *sniff* I'm starting that
next.

Any comments? Advice?

I'm a Level 28 and I haven't even gotten to Sancre Tor yet. But I also
bought the game to be a time sink and have joined Mages, Fighters,
Blades and Dark Brotherhood. I've played about 120 hours and closed 12
portals and finished about 50 quests. So I'm basically something of an
overachiever.. to my detriment.

Now I can't go into any Ayleiad ruin without there being at least two
Wraiths, two Liths and a dozen conjured zombies, skeletons and
clannfears. It's getting freakin' hairy.

I found that I could save right up to the point before I grabbed one
and get different outcomes when I reloaded. I wouldn't be anywhere
without my feather-enchanted ring, and it took several attempts to get
the right stone.

I was level 29 when I finished the main quest. I love to explore, so my
characters tend to go off on tangents a lot. For a long time, however,
I didn't let her level until she was comfortable with the level of the
monsters she was fighting. That seemed to work well for me, and I'm
guessing that was what the designers had in mind when they eliminated
the need for your character to sleep (except for leveling).

Have to say, at a certain point during the Main Quest things became
much easier for my character, due to acquisition of a certain spell.
Almost too easy. Even so, her combat capabilities and equipment were
good enough that my character didn't have much trouble with the final
task of the main quest even without using the spell. I'm guessing the
worst time to finish the main quest is at the point when the top nasty
monsters first start appearing.

I am thinking, that maybe she should have saved the main quest for
last. Everything seems a bit anticlimactic now. She's finishing up the
Fighter's guild and Dark Brotherhood quests, having some fun with the
reward from the final Thieves' Guild quest reward, but she doesn't have
anything she can possibly do with the heaps of booty she's accumulated
so there's no real point in accumulating still more by delving into the
many still unexplored caves and ruins. Toying with the idea of trying
to get her a copy of every book that appears in the game. Otherwise,
I'm probably going to let her retire soon, at least until the first
expansion comes out.

The enchantments from the Sigils vary with your level. The one I got
with the strongest Sigil at level 30+ was probably about as good as the
most powerful mage version of the spell...

RWG (I know the offensive plusses on weapons seemed to top off at 30
points of damage...)

That's where I was before I decided to start a new character. I think
the poster here who had a character searching for a particular book had
the right idea - give the character a definite goal aside from the
quests.

When I started my second character, I decided her goal was to get to
100 in Mercantile and buy into some shops for her retirement Smile

Well, getting up in Mercantile would SEEM to be a snap, right? After
all, buying and selling is one of those things everyone does, right?
Weeeeeelllll, let's just say that without buying and selling individual
arrows or alchemical ingredients, going up in Mercantile as a goal in
itself is...well...fairly difficult in practice Smile

And boring.

Very boring Smile

RWG (<---who is trying very hard not to train the character every
chance she gets just because Smile

There are spells that do a one-time damage of a
certain size, and other that does
it over a certain timespan. These last ones are
often overlooked - at least by me -
so a 30 pt damage might very well be 90 pts or even
150pts damag if done over
time
