Hmm, I like it a lot but am also fairly frustrated with the online
experience so hey, Monday and writing frenzy time.

By version 1.08 things got a lot better (but since the damn online
requires you to update it might well be worse again).
As far as firewalls in concerned, sheeeeeesh:
- why the need to open up a zillion ports? Use ONE and let your server
shuffle the traffic onwards to all the different services (third party
or not)
- autoconf the Windows firewall to help out the morons
- put up a nag screen until the user configures his firewall,
preferably with longer and longer timeouts

. Ok, this one is not good
for business but but but...

You forgot RANDOM maps. Ok, that will/must arrive in any expansion.
As it is now people concentrate on learning one map down to the pixel
and then play only that. Or worse still, play only one faction on such
a map. Ok, so I can blacklist such people but it still takes up *my*
valuable play time.
As far as random maps are concerned, I had massive fun with the mod to
c&c (tiberum dawn I think it was). Using the Tiberium Sun map generator
for c&c let you play on huge random maps. Yiiiihaaaa. If someone
managed to MOD such an extension it's ridiculous the game designers
can't do the same. I really don't care if maps have small flaws or
stupid strategic chokepoints. Random is random for everyone playing.
And besides, good algorithms can fix most "map bugs".
Not to mention the speed setting is too fast for an old geezer like
myself. Let the players negotiate the speed setting. Each player sets
an interval of acceptable speeds and if they overlap an average from
that overlap is selected. As a perfectionist I much rather play with
half the speed compared to what you have thrown at you right now.

Actually, after the fluked Generals this is the best in the series.
Gameplay is fluid and for once quite balanced. If the maps were a lot
larger and random it would be almost perfect.
