Post subject: lag problem

Hey guys I've got a problem every time i play on a server on quake 4 and i
try to walk it seems to pull me back like i've got an invisable rope
attached to me. Everyone else is running around blowing stuff up, blowing me
up etc but i cant move! Can anyone help?

I've got an adsl modem with a 258kps connection i don't think speed would
be an issue.

Well, you're wrong. That's exactly what lag is all about, and on a shitty
connection like that (very slow by most standards these days), you will
see lag in a game. It's that simple.

Particular if you're playing on a server that has high ping or bad
connectivity, which will compound the effect.

I had 144 kbit/s IDSL (synchronous) for a while, and it was manageable
if you picked your servers carefully.

So what would be a decent speed to have with an 'high' or 'bad' ping? Where
can i find a good server closer to where i live?
