Just wanted to let you know that I finally got Iwar2 running on the latest
cedega from transgaming.com
With thi sversion of cedega, the game runs smoothly, movies work as well.
System stats:
Slackware 10.2, K 2.6.13
1,333Mhz Athlon, 512MB Ram
Nvidia FX5900

To follow up on myself:
iwar2 on cedega 5.0.1 seems to work in the unpatched version of iwar2 only -
applying the F14.6 patch freezes the game some seconds after launching into
space.
wine-dbg mentions something about a dx7graph.dll screwup at this point
(further investiagtion pending).
