Good addon for extra action bars - Looking for an addon which allows more button bars onscreen. thx

Enough about the Addon! What about 1.9?? - I think the title says it all I've heard enough about about the upcoming World of Warcraft Addon What's the dirt on patch 1.9? How are they going to nerf my rogue? How are they going to uber-buff shamans?

What is the AddOn - That allows you to type the name of an item you don't have, to get a clickable link for it. Like if I want to show someone a link. I have AtlasLoot but that only shows sets, instance drops, and world dragons. There are tons of misc...

Addon help - I have seen in a few vids an addon that makes your character portrait 3D what is the name of this addon. Thanks

Which addon is it? - Which addon is it that shows you about stuff in your bags when you put the cursor on the item? That has quit working for me and I need it badly.

Post subject: Looking for addon that provides additional action bars -
Archived from groups: alt>games>warcraft (more info?)

I've been looking around at the different addons that provide
additional action bars and have to admit to be more than just a little
confused.

Rather than try four or five different ones (I've browsed the specs
for Titan, Bongos and a couple of others), I thought I would first try
to get recommendations from this newsgroup.

My requirements:

1. Simple; don't need a lot of fancy bells and whistles, would just
like to add one bar (in most cases) to my UI.

2. Customizable by character; I would like my Hunter to have a
slightly different bar than my lock who has a slightly different bar
than my mage, etc. (or does that violate #1 above). I don't want to
have to reload different settings every time I play a different alt.

So, what do you recommend and why? Thanks.

Bongos can provide more bars than you'll ever need. If you are looking
for a place to put quick-access items like potions, bandages, mounts,
etc. then I'd recommend Autobar as a fairly elegant solution.

Err... how long do you have to play the game before you find that
out? Apparently one year is not enough for me. Smile

PS
No, I never RTFM.

So can Bongos (or Autobar or even the 'built-in' or some combo
thereof) provide a set of custom bars for each alt as well as a
'common' bar that all alts would share?

Thanks!

But now that I've got your attention...

If the 'built-in UI' provide unique and customizable action bars, then
what are some of the benefits that the add-ons give that the Blizzard
one doesn't? (one I have noticed is that Blizzard's is limited to
five).

They all do. You set up your UI per character, and each is different. You
wouldn't expect the game to produce your mage's spells when you're playing
your hunter, would you?

A little explanation: That's not how the game, or the addons, work. Each
character is provided a different set of data from the server. The spells
each character has are different from the other characters, so the UI can't
provide spells from character A when you're playing character B. You're not
receiving character A's data, so you don't get character A's spells.

Auctioneer and such work a little differently, in that Auctioneer saves its
data to disk, thereby creating its own database for it to work with.
However, this doesn't mean that the auction data on server A is the same as
server B.

Because some people want more action bars.

Seriously. I've seen a level 70 in action, and five action bars really
aren't enough for some of the extended actions they can put together.
Though honestly, they didn't need all five... well, actually it's six, but
depending on the character you play, one might be pre-empted by other bars
(a hunter, for example, loses one bar for his pet's bar). You can have up
to five display on the screen, and one in 'reserve', behind your main one.

It's not just the spells. You can put potions, trinkets, and usable items
in your action bars too, as a hotlink as opposed to having to open your
backpack in the middle of combat and remember where you put your bandages,
or your mana potions.

Also, many add-ons let you resize individual bars, so you can make some
buttons smaller to free up more visual space for your character. The basic
WoW GUI doesn't let you do that unless you resize the -entire- GUI.

The default UI allows up to five bars. Do you need six?

The default UI bars are customizable by character.

Just out of curiosity, how would you have bars for two different classes
that are only "slightly different"? *All* of the spells are different.
Are you hotkeying things like eating/drinking?

Macros take a lot of space, too. Just the set focus, clear focus,
assist focus, etc starts to add up on my hunter. The I win - bestial
wrath, pop trinket etc - macro is cool and all of the hunter's mark/
petattack etc take up space.

RTFM wouldn't help you in this case as they were added later - it
would have to be RTFPN (Patch Notes) Smile

A hunter doesn't lose an action bar for his pet's bar. It is
additional to the other bars.

I like Trinity. Used to love Flexbar, but hasn't seen very much
progress and will probably be a pale shadow of what it was.

Anyway, the main advantage I see, is I can tun off all the extra junk
that surrounds the blizzard bars and have a double row of 24 buttons
along the bottom of the screen. Thats 48 small buttons. If I find
thats not enough, I turn another one vertical and scale it, then put
on the right screen edge. I mainly use that for trade skills, mount,
target macros etc.. stuff I don't need al lthe time. That gets hidden
until I mouse-over it.

That, coupled with Autobar(vertical, left screene edge) has so far
been enough for any character.

The space where the pet bar is displayed is the same space where one of the
default UI bars would be displayed. I'm sure that's what he meant.
