Seasons with all the other expansions played just fine on my computer.
No stuttering, no problems with speed of game.
I got BV and now it's slow to load, (which I could live with)
But everything is so jerky, I can't get the game to do anything in a timely
fashion.
Game keeps freezing up.
I've been changing my graphics options, but game freezes up when trying to
change those to lower settings also.
I'm about ready to uninstall the game and go back to Seasons.
I have a 2 gig processor, and a GE force 7300 GT video card.
I AM NOT buying a new video card, I just got this one upgraded 4-5 months
ago.
I have a 19" wide screen monitor, and usually view the game at 1024 x
something (can't remember)
Would it help if I viewed it at 900 x XXX?
Grrrrr! I am not happy! >> Stay informed about: Got B.V.--- Got issues!! |

Um, that should have been a GE 7600GT video card.

Hmmmm, you're making me wary about buying BV, because I have your card's
little brother, the 7600 GS >> Stay informed about: Got B.V.--- Got issues!! |

I'd guess it might be a problem with the video card - Mim has been having
problems with her NVidia - I think the 6000 and 7000 series she said.
I can't see it being anything else hardware-wise. I have a lower end system
(now - it was mid-range when the game was first released) and everything is
running just fine. I have an ATI Radeon card.
You can try putting the non shaders thing in your userStartup.cheat file
(sorry can't remember exact phrase - someone else will know).
Make sure you have removed all hacks.
How much RAM do you have?
Best wishes

Well, I got mad and uninstalled BV.
If the game is unplayable, what's the point!?
I don't know how to back up the files---so now it looks like I'm back to the
very beginning again!
I am much wiser now, and I won't make the same mistakes with my Sims life's
as I did the first time around.
If I wasn't laughing I'd be crying!

I play in 800x600...computer guy said it was a lot less stressful on my
card (nvidea G Force FX 5200 with 1.5 G...I haven't added on BV yet but
the only problems I ever have with everything up to and 2 fun packs is
some lag on giant sized properties (the two big castles with TONS of
custom content)...hope I don't have to do anything else yet since I just
upgraded to play Seasons... >> Stay informed about: Got B.V.--- Got issues!! |

If your system was running at a good speed, an expansion pack shouldn't affect
it... if anything, it should run better since the games hardware 'awareness' is
newer...
EG My sims game didn't know what my Nvidia 7300 card was, the log said
'unknown video', but after installing OFB, the log shows it as a known type of
card. So I imagine the drivers would behave better...
I'd say your EP didn't load right...
As for screen size, I boosted my poorest computers size to 1280 x 800 from 1024
x 768 and never noticed a thing! >> Stay informed about: Got B.V.--- Got issues!! |
