.... This is not a webforum; this newsgroup is not moderated, and never has
been. It's simply that our target audience has gradually all gone elsewhere...

This isn't a moderated group. The spam is unfortunate, and there's
not a lot we can do about it. It's possibly related to the ongoing
power-struggle over the way Usenet is organised - I haven't actually
read any of the spam. It's unfortunate that we're a low-volume enough
group that even a small amount of spam can make it look like the group
is abandoned.

There's a new set on its way, and there will doubtlessly be new rules
questions, and I'm aiming for a FAQ update once it's out; I'm certainly
still here for Magic rules discussion, for people who prefer to (or can
only) use Usenet for their discussions.

Not me - Usenet Newsgroups forever!

Seriously, I think the problem is that Windows needs to ship with an
easier to use and built in Usenet interface.

People should click on Start, then see "Newsgroups" as one of the default
choices. Then they should be able to enter their interests, and have
relevant groups pop up.

Dear god, no. Seeing Outlook Express in the headers is second only to
seeing Google Groups in the headers as a Big Clue that the post is
best ignored.

<shudder> Having been here when AOL found Usenet, I can see several quite
logically-consequent Wrong Things that would follow from that...
