In a gaming discussion forum that is moderated? I would willingly set one
up, the registration is free and you can edit your messages. The forums
would be specific to all gaming (PC, PS3, 360, etc), but it will be
moderated. I personally would like to see real discussions about the games
and the hardwares.

I have no problems with heated discussions, as long as the heat is about the
topic, and not to scorch each other. Any suggestions what you would like for
rules?

Anyone interested?

There are moderated forums over at GameFaqs, pretty much every single
game has their own forum as well.

Good enough, I was just offering for most of the people that post
here, whether they'd want to have something like that. If most already
post to to other (moderated) boards, that's cool. I figured most here
did that anyway, and just offered to do this with allowing one or two
others here be the moderators.

The cool thing about the GameFAQs forums is that once you have enough
experience on the site (you gain one point per day by logging on) you
can mark posts for moderation yourself.

Where do you usually hang out there? The only "bad" place where they
are light on the moderations is NGG. All of the console-specific
boards are moderated to a good degree.

Maybe a call to make alt.games.video.discussion.moderated? For the
trolls, and those who enjoy stomping on trolls, why not create
alt.games.video.flameware? Of course, that would pretty much empty out
all of the traffic we're getting on the other agv.<platform> groups now...

A little confusing but that is probably because I am trying to watch Kobe go
for 60+ again at the same time. I will try again when I am focused.

As someone old enough to have seen both, would you say he is better than
Jordan at the same stage in his career? I would.

GASP...blasphemy, although Micheal himself might agree with you.
Kobe is 'somewhat' of a copycat wheras Jordan wrote the book for his
style of play, but really they both fall from the same tree.

Jordan transcended the sport and sort of rewrote the style of play that
we see so much of today, wheras Kobe is a Jordan clone for the most
part, but the kid got his own chops no doubt.

But after thinking about it ,if Michael was as selfish a player as Kobe
,his stats would be even higher ,but with less titles.

I'm glad you put 'somewhat' in quotations. People like you and I who have
seen both realize just what MJ has done. The thing is, MJ was somewhat of a
clone of Dr. J. Julius Erving was a more popular version of David
Thompson/George Gervin.... and the list goes on. Everyone falls from the
same tree in some way. The fact of the matter, MJ blew our minds because he
was doing things that no one else could do at the time. The difference is,
nowadays, Kobe, T-Mac, Dwayne Wade and Lebron can all do those things.
Remember Harold Minor was nicknamed "Baby Jordan"? That's how desperate we
were for someone to do what that guy could do. There are multiple times in
basketball history when Vince Carter/Carmelo Anthony/Dirk Notwiski(sp)/Amare
Stoudemire/Allen Iverson/Kevin Garnett/Tim Duncan/Ginobli could have been
mentioned as the being one of the top 5 players in the league. There are
experts right now who wouldn't list ANY of those guys in their top 5. We
are spoiled by the fact that these guys were able to watch Erving, Bird,
Jordan, Barkley, Magic, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Russell, West ......
That's who they have modeled their games after. Kobe is a victim of his
age. If he did everything he does now back when MJ was at his prime, I
don't think we would be so quick to label him as the greatest of all time.

I remember watching Jordan and thinking, if Magic shot that much, he could
30 pts per game. That guy transcended the game. A point guard with his
ball-handling skills and height was just unheard of. I don't think Kobe is
any more selfish than Jordan. The funny thing is, I am not even a "Kobe"
fan per se. I am blown away by what he does and I think he is unrivaled but
I have players that I like more. I am a Chris Paul/Allen Iverson/Ray
Allen/Kevin Garnett kind of guy but Kobe is ridiculous.
