Re-installing - HELP !!!!

I didn't delete "custom" stuff (it gave me the option) - I'll try deleting
absolutely everything next.

Seemed to work OK.

Should I install NWN & update, then SOU & update, the HOU & update, (which
is what I did) or should I install alll three first and then update?

I don't think that's the problem - but it wouldn't hurt to save
"custom" stuff (I think it's your saves, local vault characters,
etc.). I was thinking more of stuff in the main NWN folder.

Install all 3, then update with just the latest HotU patch. Always
worked for me. Incidentally, I can't use the auto updater from home
(dialup). I download the patch at work, then update manually.

Been trying it today. NWN loads OK & plays OK. but when I then add SOU and
try to play I get the "enter CD key" nonsense that I can't get round, no
matter how many keys I enter.

I'm thinking that buyng a new SOU disk with a different key might cure that
problem.....

Y'know, I'm thinking that the only time I've seen a "enter CD key"
type message _after_ a successful install is when NWN/SotU/HotU thinks
that there is another install of the game, either on the same drive or
a networked computer. You try to run the game, it checks for the same
key on the drive/network, finds it, and requests a new "valid" cd key.

If you've removed all the old files (and confirmed the directories are
empty), there may have been something in the registry that was
missed. here's an old post by Barry Scott Will:

Use Regedit to delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Bioware>NWN key
and try again.

The SotU key might be somewhere in the same general vicinity... if
that doesn't work, you may want to check further the old Bioware
forums, as well as this group.
