Just installed a router and now I can't play ET

I just installed a router and I cannot connect to any servers. The
list of servers refreshes fine but when I choose one to join, I get the
"Awaiting challenge . . ." and it just keeps counting up. Do I have to
forward any ports on the router to be able to play?

Thanks for the link. I opened the suggested ports and although I can
connect to more servers now (and the server list shows more servers) I
still get "Awaiting challenge . . ." on about half the servers I try to
join.
