How to improve this pair of blades?

Hello,

The revision of the longsword "Wizard's Woe" went well, so I'd
like to try again with the following katana/wakizashi pair.

The owner is a Knight Protector, and is a level 29 character in 3.5e.
Granted, an unusual choice of weapons for such a character, but he
spent some time in a far eastern training school, where he learned
to use the weapons. He's a good Drow Elf, and commands the
army in the kingdom where he lives.

What improvements would make these weapons better-suited
for the character? I realize I may not have calculated everything
correctely, but it's a start, anyway
