Yeah, I abandoned it pretty quick, despite the in-game advice of a
priest.
I went back to Unit Buttons. It's like PartyBars but a little more
customizable I think. All I need to do is place the bars in the proper
place whenever I get into a group, and then it will be as I want it. >> Stay informed about: Something to help me heal |

I use Grid on all my characters and I don't have any raid healers (not
counting BGs here):
On my healers I use it with Clique and I don't press a button for any
heal or debuff cure except for Prayer of Healing. I just use mouse
clicks (with alt for some stuff - no other modifiers needed yet) That
gives me 9 actions before I'd need to go to a second modifier.
On my non-healers I just like the small party bars to see who is low
on health/mana etc. Much better than the big, ugly things that
Blizzard did.

Sounds good, I need to get round to looking at a mod that's slightly more
customisable; PartyBars suits me nicely but there's 1-2 options that'd make
it that little bit better, and it seems to have been pretty much abandoned,
so I can't hope for updates. Trouble is having got it set up how I like it
I'm reluctant to to the steap and actually change

You would like Unitbuttons, Cat. I went from PartyBars to it, and have no
intention of ever going back.
PartyBars was nice for most things.. completely simple.. but UnitButtons is
much nicer. For example... pet bars. That, alone, is enough to cause
me to move to it.

Sounds handy, but when I previously had a mod with pet bars I had to turn
them off because there just wasn't enough room, it was ending up hiding
debuff displays etc I'll take a look though, it's just a case of
getting around to it - took me forever to try Grid instead of CTRA for my
raidframes for example

Yeah, UnitButtons has a similar look to PartyBars but you can set it to
display pet bars as well as a bar for your current target. You can
customize the size of the buttons on the bar, and it's easy to add or
remove buttons (up to 12). Also easy to turn off the ones you don't
want, such as the one for your current target, for example, if you don't
want a bar for that.
It's much more customizable than PartyBars, but at the same time really
simple and not overwhelming with options (basically there's just a few).
Now, there's also XtremeUnitButtons, which *seems* very nice and highly
customizable, but positioning the bars is very painful and doesn't even
seem to work right. It ends up looking like a big mess for me, so I went
with the original UB. >> Stay informed about: Something to help me heal |

Hmm, up to 12 buttons? Now that sounds useful, the 8 that PartyBars has are
alright but I'd really prefer 9-10, as I just end up never using binding
heal or gift of the naaru due to not having room for them on the bars
(shield, renew, flash heal, 2 ranks of Gheal, PoM, abolish and dispel... no
more room ) - having to manually target the player and then find the
icon on a bar at the other side of the screen takes too long so I rarely
bother.
And a bar for current target would be nice if I can plant it in another
place on the screen away from the target frame; that way I could maybe put
it and Grid together at the side of the screen for raid healing instead of
having Grid on top of my character so it's somewhere near my usual
actionbars
Oki, I predict some UI customisation is called for when I have time later
