I'm just wondering where everyone is at?? This is my favorite group and
even though I usually just lurk, I get lots of information from all of you.
Don't know how many times just coming here has helped me with a game!
Well now I'm sitting here with only a couple games to last me all
winter!! This is the only real time that I have to play ( out side in
garden rest of the time) any games!
So I need your help!!! I need some suggestions on some games, maybe
from the last couple years.
I like exploring games best, but also who-dun-it type games and spookey
games among others, I'm sure the're are others that I'm not thinking of
right now. I just like Adventure games!!!!
First game I played in 93' was Myst and the last one I played was
DreamFall.
Thanks for your time !! I do hope they start getting some more
games out pretty soon!!!

Broken Sword 4 - decent game with uneven quality; some parts are real
good while some are nonsensical. The ending is rushed. Still it's
worth a try

Sam&Max Season 1 - There's a demo for the episodes and one entire
episode available for free. The boxed version is available in stores
and can also be purchased online at http://www.telltalegames.com

Ankh and its sequel - Classic point and click adventure games in the
traditions of Monkey Island and Simon the Sorceror.

I like Secret Files: Tunguska's demo but never actually tried the
game.

Indigo Prophecy (Released as Fahrenheit outside US) - A pretty good
game, for the first 70% of its gameplay time and then gets
increasingly mediocre. Also has a lot of very annoying timed
sequences. Depending on your patience level, it's worth a try as some
parts of it are done extremely well.

The adventure game genre, which I love, has been in a death throes for a
while, which is why there isn't much activity here. The days of Myst,
Riven, Grim Fandango and Longest Journey excitement are in the past. All the
money goes to first-person shooters, which is a very lucrative market for
game producers. There's just not as much money to be made in the adventure
game genre.

I have just started Culpa Innata, on the recommendations of many adventure
game fans, and have been having a hard time getting interested, mainly
because of the horrible graphics. The visual element is important for me to
become fully immersed in a game and this one looks awful. My first game was
Riven, when first released, and so I was spoiled from the get-go. "They"
say the story makes up for it, so I'll keep at it. You might want to check
it out too.

All the above games are great;

Agatha Christie has three games, but the latest "Evil Under the Sun" is
very good.

Also the later Nancy Drew games have really gotten much better and in my
opinion are for adults.

Sherlock Holms "Secret of the Silver Earring" is pretty decent.

Well, you could try "Syberia" (1 and 2); "Black Mirror"; "Secret Files:
Tunguska"; "Runaway 1" and "Runaway 2: The dream of the Turtle"; "NiBiRu"
and there will be plenty more to explore I guess. Have fun. Or have a look
at http://www.gameboomers.com/ or http://www.justadventure.com/ for example.

No one liked Keepsake? I liked the built in puzzle hint system. If I
didn't like a puzzle you could get hints or a solve. Kind of a 'Harry
Potter' type setting with kids at a school of magic.

You might look into some of the games published by The Aventure
Company. They have many games which I have found to be very
entertaining and loaded with mystery puzzles. Some of my favorites
are; NiBiRu, Syberia and the sequeal Syberia II, Crime Stories, just
to name a few.

Yes, we did. And we (my wife and I) also liked the built in hint system.
On the other hand there was a lot of walking and talking to do in this
game. But, on average, we thought it was a decent game.

I thought Keepsake was a very good game. There were a couple of areas I
didn't much care for, but all in all, a very good game. I've re-played it a
couple of times. Always a good sign for me, that I really liked the game.

No, I didn't. I think the "actionparts" in the game scare me away. That's
why I dumped Next Life; very frustrating timed-sequences!
Did play The Longest Journey though and I thought it was one of the finest
adventures I've ever played.

Yes, the Longest Journey was very well done. I little slow for me as I
like a little action while exploring. Thats why the early Tomb Raider
games were my favorite. (except for those darn timed-sequences also)
Maybe I will look at Dreamfall again. The adventure games are so far and
few between I have been playing some older games I never got too. I find
that I don't really like FPS (kill everything that moves)but a good
tactical shooter is OK. I enjoyed both Halo 1 (funny at times) and
Rainbow Six-Raven Shield however I play them on an easy setting.

I wouldn't be too scared by the "actionparts" - there aren't too many of
them and they're not that bad.

I'd put Dreamfall on a par with The Longest Journey as a story-telling
exercise. Dreamfall got its hooks further into me that The Longest Journey
did, but I could have done with more of it - Dreamfall was too short. Both
games were brilliant, I think.
