Hey guys,
I'm looking for info/help on setting up a 40K campaign. Not a map
based one like the first Cityfight. But something more open. Like the
sector campaign they did for Medusa 5. At least i think that's the
one.
Basically I'm looking for something to deal with factions gaining
percentage control over planets/moons etc in a sector or solar system.
This allows for a smaller number of players to have an effect on a
larger are that a standard map campaign. Plus it removes issues
regarding someone getting clobbered early and dropping out.
any ideas? >> Stay informed about: [40K] Need help with some campaign rules. |

We did a campaign like this last spring, designed and run by Emi,
then-owner of Sanctuary. Here's the rules in PDF form:

Some good stuff there.

I'll probably modify it a good bit before I present it to the store
owner and his staff. (His staff judge tournaments and such. I'm going
on an angle of "here's this, I think it can work, I want to play, so
it may be more appropriate if your staff do the judging of the
event(s).")
I'm think about adding several locations and such and doing the CP on
a more percentage based scale. A normal game (1500 - 2k points) will
change percentage control by up to 5%. Apoc games by 10% (for 5K
points) or more.
I'm thinking something like this for Factions:
Tyranids - Nids. Nids can have allies from anyone for Apocalypse
(represnting Mind Slaves and cults)
Necrons - Necrons only.
Chaos - CSM, LatD, "Renegade"Guard.
Imperial - SM, IG, Inquisition.
Tau - Tau and Imperial Guard representing Auxilliaries.
Eldar - Eldar. (Eldar can ally with Imperial and Tau factions for
Apocalypse and can fight to help them gain/retain control)
Orks - The Waagh is on it's own. >> Stay informed about: [40K] Need help with some campaign rules. |

Emi did some nice stuff like this when he was running Sanctuary, makes
me wish he had time to do some more.
You want overly complicated, try the Denizens of the Deep campaign
rules someday (on GW's site). That's just way too much work to be
worth it...

Found out the original Guardians site is still up at the moment with
the Hatross stuff:
http://www.grailquestcon.com/hatross.htm
http://www.grailquestcon.com/hatross2.htm
Also a couple of other interesting files:
http://www.grailquestcon.com/guardiandownload.htm
http://www.grailquestcon.com/download/carnage2.pdf
http://www.grailquestcon.com/download/KTsmash.pdf
These are some Kill Team missions for use in Kill Team tournaments.
Yep, we'd actually get together 16-20 or more people with Kill Teams
and run four-way matches until someone emerged on top. Awesome fun.
http://www.grailquestcon.com/download/leaguerules.doc
Rules for the club's "Challenge Boards" using the board and tags
available from GF9. This is actually a GREAT way to get games with
other people set up. What makes it better is when someone finally won
it, they'd get their name engraved on one of the brass plates for that
board.
http://www.grailquestcon.com/download/rulesOengagement.pdf
GW's Rules of Engagement, objective-based random missions. Used these
for fun games, league play, and sometimes even tournaments, though
those tourneys ended up needing some house rules to deal with the ROE
having straight-up win, loss, or tie.
