Hey all. This is my first posting to this group. I was just wondering
about something. I'm trying to play Ballyhoo by Infocom and when I
take the suitcase I get taken out of the grift by the clowns like it
should probably go. The thing is, where is the shaft I need to pull. I
get on the tent and go east but there is no shaft. Can somebody please
tell me where to go? Also, after I gave up on that, I couldn't get
into the trailer on the east side; it was locked. I thought you were
supposed to get Chelsea in there and somehow the ape would get her.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

I haven't played it, but since no one has replied, you could take a look at
the Invisiclues for Ballyhoo:

http://www.bernsen.us/james/int-fiction/invisiclues/ballyhoo.html

.... and there is a thorough looking walkthrough here:

http://www.eristic.net/games/infocom/ballyhoo.html

(Hope it isn't too tempting to read it before you're genuinely stuck! If you
don't end up needing it, you might want to look at this walkthrough when
you're finished just for the "for your amusement" bits).

In my previous reply, I mentioned a website with Invisiclues; that one
prints the answers in white, and you need to highlight them to make them
visible. This one might suit you better, since it uses links instead of
hiding the text in white:
