Can a group of pc's go through the stock nwn2 campaign tog..

Yeah, you're in a desert and there's a caravan...that one.
Yes, you're right, it's SoU. HotU was the extremely fun one with
waterdeep. I actually played that one alone and was completely glued to
the 'puter for a few days around the Xmas holiday when it came out.

So, SoU was the one we had problems with, but we were able to play on,
so if it was a bug, it wasn't a major one.

Well I'd certainly hope to play with a small crowd when NWN2 comes out
at the end of this month (is that still a go? Nothing on Gamespot
regarding the release, and it's a major title)...
and will be looking around for one if I can't cobble a group of folks
together here...

I'll host if necessary, the only problem being that I'm currently using
DSL. But if DSL is sufficient, then it shouldn't be a problem setting
up a NWN2 server.

My understanding (from the readme) is that HOTU was not designed for multiplayer
and doesn't support it, though I've only just bought it, so can't vouch for
whether it is workable despite the disclaimer. The original campaign certainly
did support online play, as did SoU. It worked a treat in fact: my group played
SoU all the way through, one of my most enjoyable MP experiences, with very few
problems that I recall. (Our group played the OC before that, though I wasn't
involved). What difficulties did you have? I think we used to have trouble
with some cutscenes not appearing to all players, but I think a patch fixed
that, and until then those that saw the cutscene would explain it to the rest
Considering we were playing on dial-up at the time, with players in both the US
and the UK, the game was remarkably trouble-free.

No reason at the moment to think NWN2 won't support a multiplayer party in the
same manner, though apparently the amount of info transferred to and from the
server is much greater, so broadband will be needed and perhaps some hefty
hardware.

Wasn't the caravan in SoU? Maybe there's one in HOTU too, but I haven't started
it yet A problem like that sounds like the sort of thing we might have
worked around, but they didn't arise often. I don't recall that particular
problem. It's been a long time for me too, so your recollection may be better
than mine. I just remember it was fun! Various third-party modules kept us
playing most Sunday nights for nearly 2 years.

So would I! NWN was a much better game played as a party. At the moment I'm
trying to persuade my former group to take part, but I don't think they can be
prised away from WoW
(we still play together on Sunday nights, but I'm bored with WoW)

You should be able to host a small party on DSL, it helps if you have
two computers so you can run one as a server while you play on the
other (this is how I do it).

As to your topic directly, it depends on how they code quests. If they
code things like quest triggers and rewards so that the entire party is
effected then you should be able to take a party through. If they code
things for only the character who is talking to the quest-giver and the
like then you may have problems. At this point there is no way to
know, we have to wait for the release of the game. There may be more
info on this in the official forums.
