Agreed,
the 1.09 beta patch is a good one (it installs on top of a 1.08
install but doesn't interfere with it) - and for lesser hardware there are
mods to simplify vegetation (lowplants).

God I love co-op multiplayer in that game. I've experienced so many
"wow" moments ranging from multiple teams doing a co-ordinated helo
insertion to missions in the jungles of vietnam (using the Vietnaam
The Experience mod). Of course, as with all online games you'll come
across the occassional idiot/griefer but for me it hasn't been too bad.

Thanks for the suggestion.

PS Just went hunting for the patch. I appear to have quite a lot of
downloading to do to get up to date!

Dude!

Well I have been playing a lot of GRAW 2 and FEAR...not enough time in the day
anymore to practice flight sims so I usually just fly IL2 since I don't have to
remember so many keys. Wish I could fly my jet sims again but remembering how to
work the radar etc is like a second job these days.

Maybe one day soon I will have the time...wow lots of great memories.
EF2000....wow remember Gary Ward and I having lots of fun with that sim flying
for the Red Team since they were all dumb. That was a fun sim even if the
Russians didn't know how to fight. Great atmosphere.

Haven't had that much fun with computers since my flight sim days. But I keep
them around just in case they get fun again.

Mostly blog, homeschool my 3 kids and look up information on various projects.

Hey Icer! How are ya man? I still pop in once in awhile to see who's
around and posting and hopefully find something worth reading... Not
having much time to fly, much less play anything else for that matter.
Sad Life just too busy at this point of my life, especially with the
folks getting on in age.

Hope all is well with you and yours mate! Ever make that move down
south or are you still in this neck of the woods?

Well, some things change and some remain the same. Still up here but
we plan on selling this Spring and moving south to NC. I stopped
working about 3 years ago and have been (amatuer) racing Porsches and
just puttering around. We still have two properties on South Beach but
that's not where it's at for road racing hence the mid-Atlantic nest.
One hour flight and we are on the beach drinking rum-runners.. Cool.
While I have kept up with F4 (AF) and have the latest I only really
race online with a league I created now, and with my season starting
this Saturday (i'll be at Limerock Park, stop by!) my interest is
waning a bit. Hope all is good with your family!

The "wings over" series might be an option then - definitely NOT
hardcore but is probably the closest (pity the co-op multi is so lame
- dogfight multi might be better though).

LOMAC/FC flying in a hog fits the bill too if you like A2G (but from
memory you were an A2A guy).
The flanker in LOMAC is mostly operated like the original Flanker. In
the game if you fly one and put an AWACS in the air you see absolutely
everything.

I must admit, I mostly play Armed Assault online these days (I don't
fly much in it though - bleh). With the 1.11 beta patch the AI really
hunts you down - even searching buildings and scaling ladders to get
you.

A modern EF2000 would be fantastic - atmosphere, modern platform with
not too much button pushing, co-op campaign. For me, the big thing
missing from EF2000 was a proper mission creator/editor.

I'll be there on 4/19 practicing from 1-5 PM, and back on 4/24 all day
for practice and the annual race is on 4/25 and 4/26 (Friday and
Saturday). Then it's up to Watkins Glen for "The Clash" at the end of
May.. and on and on..

Now can anyone show up to watch during practice times? Do they
charge/sell tickets for such things? Dumb questions, I know, but I've
never been there so I have no idea how it works. I went on their site
but the info there is limited about such things. What is the "annual
race" that you mention. I only saw the Grand AM GT race in May as
being the soonest. Thanks!
