Yea. What do we get instead now? SimHQ forums where they think they are

Yup.
That said, the computers have never been faster, the graphics never more
fluid and breath-taking and the controllers never more SPIKE_FREE and
flexible. Neva mind TrackIR.
Yeah, it was great then.
That said, IMO...it's even better now.

Oh, no doubt the sim capability is best now...
But the group has definately taken a downturn.
It's sad.

Both with an interface that reminds me of this dialogue from "One, Two
Three":

two-tone.

cc that PD...
....I just bought the Saitek X52 Pro stuff, reinstalled LoMac,
patched/upgraded to Flaming Cliffs 1.12b and now I'm in a controller
programming haze.
I'm getting ready for Black Shark and Battle of Britain releases.
Did I read just "2 weeks" to go?
*grin*
I'm still running a Opteron 185 dual core on a 939/AGP home built box.
Once I make the round of upgrades I'll go to a quad core/PCe/DX10 rig.

Welcome to the 21st century Pierre! The century when we finally have the
hardware to run state of the art flight sims... but no state of the art
flight sims. It's a plot to turn us into grumpy old men.
Assuming we weren't already.

PC gaming better now??? I don't think so. I really miss all the good times
and friends I had here. But I now have a PS3 and have moved on. The
network play on it's games is far better than anything the PC gaming was
doing.
Anyway don't really want to flame. Just stopping by and saying "hi" so
some old friends.

Funny you say that PD,
I went and did a full upgrade in sept, Coreduo 6750, 8850 gts,2g ram.
Got a XFi sound card from my brother for Christmas and a new problem
came up...no joystick port for the Digital F22/TQS. Got a $15 sound
card just for the joystick port, but decided to move foreward and got
the full CH gear...Fighterstick,Pro Throttle, and Pro pedals. Been
checking out Lock On and the Updates to EECH (if you haven't done that,
do so, you'll be amazed) and its great running things maxed out but
recently just been playing IL2...never was that great at props, always
needed a great big afterburner to get out of trouble, but Its been fun
learning. Learning to program the CH gear has been interesting as well.

Yeah...I've got the HD plasma and the PS3 and I love padding my score on
COD4 online. I grab a SplitFish Frag mouse controller PS3 thingy just
for COD4...works great btw.
But for me, PC simulation *Flaming Cliffs* is the best gaming
experience. I love the old fashioned Su25 with no HUD. Fantastic flight
model.
But that's just me.

Well I still have all my Digital F22 and TQS, RCS thrustmaster gear in
working
condition in XP. I still have F4 Allied Force and some other still. But most
if my
time is spent doing COD4 on the PS3. I Heard about the splitfish. I may have
to try it...

At least we have other military sims - I can't believe how much time
I've put into Armed Assault. And for budding filmakers like you Andrew
- it has a rather interesting camera mode.
Oh and I'm an oldie too (just not a big poster)- entered the group during
the ef2000 days - before PD went off and started flying Flanker.

I gave up trying to run AA because it ran like a slug even on my latest
hardware. I should look at it again, I suppose. They might have patched
it into something I can actually play smoothly by now.
I am trying to forget about movie making though. It eats far too much
time, and the heady days when I could get 2 or 3 thousand downloads for
a release are long gone. I think the last effort managed about 400
downloads, so the ego trip was rather short.

Hi
try the latest 1.09 Beta Patch for Armed Assault. It runs smooth now.
Before the next final patch an other beta is announced.
