ID Genesis game for me please - Was at Game Crazy and saw this cool looking cover, but couldn't read the title and left the store with a mental note. 1. It starts with S -- it was lodged between Shining In the Darkness and Steel Empire 2. No titles on front cover, only on spine where.

I just got a sega genesis. I'm wondering what model # it is so I can
get the correct AV cable for it. It is big and has a headphone jack and
a volume switch. It also has several odd ports on the back, including
one that looks like a keyboard would plug into it. It has a hidden
ciruit board on the side which I'm guessing is for the Sega CD unit.

Can anyone help me out?

That's the first model, although there are two varieties of that. Either
way, you're asking for the Model 1 Genesis video cord, with the large DIN
video connector. The Model 2 Genesis cord has what's called a mini-DIN
connector, and they're easily distinguished. Alternately, if you get a
hold of a complete 32x there's an adapter dongle included with it that
lets you use a Model 2 video cord on the Model 1 Genesis.

About the two versions of the first Genesis? Early versions of the
hardware have no cartridge license protection, whereas later versions
don't allow certain games to be played. We're looking at a couple of bad
EA titles and a platformer, nothing to be worried about. Google "Genesis"
and "TMSS" together if you want more details.

If it's the large DIN plug, then Radio Shack/Tandy/similar stores sell a
Din-to-4-rca-plugs cable which will give you video on one rca plug and sound
on another.

Thank you for clarifying which av cable to get.

I have had trouble with Populous and Grind Stormer. I believe these are
on the list.
I have been using a sega genesis 3 for a while now. The AV cable for it
does
not fit the newer system I just got. I wanted this one for access to
the Master system converter
and, perhaps, the 32x adapter.

The AV cable that the store gave me with the system is quite strange.
It does not fit either system
and has only 2-3 pins in it. WTF? Myself and another store employee
theorized that this may be
an AV cable for a sega master system, but I honestly don't know. It is
the same size as the
Genesis 3 AV cable, but it has a lot less pins.
