Frightening Statistic - Hi folks - Heard something on the news I found this weekend, the world's will pass an estimated 6.5 Billion people. Meaning that the world's will have doubled since *1960*. 46 years. Yikes. This can't..

Ping: Miracle - Got the St Patty's day card and note book today. Thanks! The book looks great, and earned itself a spot on my desk next to the little container from Christmas (which receives lots of use)

I was Passing by... - Looooong time since I looked in here... A couple of faces (or names) are :)

Finally got around to reinstalling T1 - ... but for the life of me can't remember the variable to control FOV. 1440x900 is nice on it, but would like the extra vision.

Blogging, 4-04-06 - I'm a real piece of work, I'll tell ya. I bet I don't have three working memory cells left. I've spent the better part of yesterday and today trying to find my pen drive. Still haven't found it. I need the little devil so I can transfer some files..

I'd like to pick up a new shooter, but I'm not sure what to get. Of course I
already love Tribes and Tribes 2. Had a blast in past years with Quake 2,
and Descent lan play. I love head-to-head combat with live opponents.
Considering: Battlefield 2, Halo, Half Life, WWII online.

Anyone have any suggestions / favorites?

Thx,
Stoney Pony

Halo isn't too bad, although online play for computer version sucks.
Almost all the servers are nothing but Rocket launcher only setups with
little kids running around, and if you ask for a decent loadout,
they'll call you a noob.

If you are politically incorrect, Postal 2 rocks. Nothing quite like
decapitating someone's head, and pissing on their corpse. Although, not
alot of server action, atleast when I've played online (which was odd
ball hours)

Tremulous is a free Quake 3 based game, with good graphics. Worth a
shot due to price alone.

I've also loved the first series of Ghost Recon.

Battlefield2 is, IMO the best multiplayer game since the original Tribes.

Obviously, buying HL2 (and HL if you don't have the original) will get you
Counter Strike, Team Fortress and lots of other mods and games.

You may wish to consider Unreal Tournament 2004 - again loads of user mods
for free and not a bad blast.

Hey, Thanks! I was leaning toward Battlefield 2, and I think you sealed it.

Good game, some strategy elements along with the FPS, and like T2 includes
tons of bugs with every patch! Razz

If you choose BF2 and like epic strategy, go play at
http://tacticalgamer.com/. They require that players join squads and listen
to their squad leader and commander. No cowboys. On those occasions when I
drag myself away from WoW and TG has some people on, I always play there.

Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is slated to be released with HL2: Episode 2 later
this year!

And its creator, Epic, actually pays attention to the wishes of server
admins. The advanced server admin mailing list is a good resource, as is
the admin wiki.

So ignoring your request:
FEAR is a great game, at least Single Player, with lots of nice scare
moments. Play it in the evenings with the lights down and the sound up.
The weapons feel like weapons, and you've got something resembling
bullet time (if you remember the Matrix) which is still fun. Nothing
like running into a crowded room, shotgunning guy number 2, slamming the
shotgun in the face of guy number one, and working your way down the
list with bullets flying all over the place.

Haven't really tried multiplayer.

There's a demo, pick it up.

More multiplayery, there's Prey, which I've played the demo of. Seems
ok, but resembles UT in gameplay I think, which I never really got to
enjoying a lot. It uses lots of little tricks like portals, gravity
flipping and sticky surfaces to walk on, meaning death can come from any
direction in many cases.

There's a demo, pick it up.
