A long time ago I used to play Descent and really feel in love with the
ability to move in 360 degrees. I think it was the strafing on the X &
Y axis that sold it to me really and I got very good at strafing and
keep a fix on my target.

When I had first heard about Descent Freespace (Conflict: Freespace) I
had been excited because I thought they would be taking Descent and
sticking it in space but sadly not Sad (still a good game though).

So I was wondering is there any space game that uses a flight model
similar to Descent's?

Thanks for that I hadn't heard of the last two at all. Are they worth
looking trying out?

Calling what Descent has a "flight model" is a bit generous, but it
conveys the idea. The only game that I can think of is Forsaken. It's
a bit old now, but I remember the graphics were impressive when it came
out. I think it was one of the first DirectX games. The other poster
refered to IWar/IWar2. IWar along with Terminus has what I'd call a
flight model, but it's nothing like Descent. However, if it's strafing
that you are looking for those games deliver. Also Freelancer has a
strafe mode.

I've Found Her was a B5 Fan project, I believe. Download it
and see for yourself.

Not sure about Homeplanet.

There was a game that was basically a clone of Descent called Forsaken.

What Descent "did" was never bettered IMO. The first truly 3d
multiplayer space based shooter : awesome for the time.
