I want to build a mame cabinet.Ive been looking to buy the Ultimate Arcade
II Cabinet plans or Kit from www.mameroom.com .How much $ will I save if I
build using the plans vs the Kit?If its not that much I may just buy the
kit.Im no master wood worker, but I can work with wood a little bit.AS far as
controls go I think I can make them from scratch with some reading,But now I
ask again are home built controls better than than sayX-Arcade or those
types of control panels.Any advice is welcome.TYIA

It's just my preference, but using an X-Arcade/HotRod with a cabinet
looks sort of cheesy.

You've likely done more research than me, but the design that caught my
eye is the one that had a rotating control pad such that you could bring
up a dual-stick layout, or a track ball layout, or some other scheme
that I'm not recalling at the moment. Hopefully someone can point you
at a link if you don't know what I'm talking about.
