Hehehehe, the guy could be for real, or just someone who had wanted to use
your info.
Sorry for sounding jaded, but I've seen what ppl will do to opinions/words,
et cetera that aren't copywritten.

YES, YES!!!

Let there be puns, and the whole world groaned. Wink[ (my quote)

One time I was GM'ing a group that were all younger than me. They were not
totally into the gaming so I decided to take this one player personally. I
gave him a vile of gunpowder, which he was rubbing between his fingers. The
gunpowder goes off naturally, and he's airborne. Lol, he was still acting
up, so when he came back to the party, he downed another vile. Heh, I
played at as a vile of hallucinogenic (peyote) and he was believing that he
was taking on a red dragon single-handedly and won. Lol

Er, dude, that's what journalists *do*. They talk to people who have
knowledge they don't, and write news stories about it. Not that any of us
would have been a credible source to use directly, mind you, but we had
some insight in to the political situation that gave him ideas on what
kind of research to do.

I have no idea what he really thought of us, but he did listen in for a
while and take a few notes. (We were all pretty well informed on current
events, at the time, partly because the GM for the Top Secret game was
very well informed, and we had to keep up for Characters Would Die. And
we had such a diverse group of perspectives, between us, we didn't miss
much.)

Kewl. I believe you. Journalists are, imho, always looking for a story and
will try to get it by many means. Unfortunately some I allege, do go over
the bounds. I myself though have had my words and stuff re-used verbatim
w/o a byline on more than one project. I won't go into details, but IF my
schtuff is allegedly good enough to "use," then I must be doing something
right. Wink[

FYI, there used to be, I believe, a female actress up here w/ the same name
as you. Sheer co-incidence.

Hmmmm, the topic(s) sound interesting. The stuff that I've been told over
the years about what "really" goes on in the military, political backrooms,
et cetera is pretty scary.

My games have always spent a lot more time outdoors than in a dungeon.
The players of one of my groups had learned to judge my mood and the
portents of things to come by asking about the weather and descriptions of
the things around them.

One game session after a gruelling encounter with some undead bad guys
that got away, the players had camped out in a forest grove overnight. I
had intended that they remain unmolested and recover a bit. They needed
it. But, as was my custom, I kept rolling dice behind my screen from time
to time and putting on a show of interpreting the results. Every now and
then I picked up a bigger set of dice and rolled them for effect, followed
by faux note-taking.

As I was finishing one of these "ambiance" dice-rolling events, I
announced that moring had arrived and asked what they were going to do
next.

So they asked me how everything looked today...

"The sun is rising in the East to a crisp blue sky. The frogs are
singing and the birds are croaking..." I had gotten crossed in my head
with the description. But I never got any further than that as all hell
broke loose with the players...

"Run! The Frogs are singing some kind of death spell!"

As I recall, they burned down the forest.

I miss that group.

Oh, certainly. For all I know, this guy was one of them. Never saw
anything that I knew was from him. But he seemed a sensible enough
sort at the time. (That's an important job skill for a journalist,
after all.)

Heh. My father was involved in the divorced men's rights for about
25 years or so. Was interviewed by a lot of journalists. The most
accurate story I ever saw on him was in the National Enquirer.

There's a fairly well known comic book artist of the same name,
too. He's *much* nicer than I am.

I wouldn't believe a single word about what "really" goes on in the
military from someone who was never in the military. And I'd believe
even less from anyone who was in the military. They do love a good
sea story.

Hm, lots of funny moments in gaming. Here's one we were talking about
just the other day:

The heroes were having trouble with a long-recurring villain, a demoness
bent on killing their leader. (For folks who've read or played through
the original D&D adventure path, she was the Cathezar.) I introduced her
to the campaign about 10 levels early, and the players soon grew to
dread her appearances.

However, the heroes grew stronger, and eventually the matchup shifted
from a desperate scramble for survival to an even match and eventually
to the players' favor. Still, the demoness meddled in their affairs and
generally remained a thorn in their collective side. They kept defeating
her, but she kept coming back, courtesy of a demon prince.

The heroes approached the demon prince in hopes that he might withdraw
his favor and permit them to finally defeat the demoness. Surprisingly,
the prince agreed, on the condition that they make a token sacrifice to
him. Nothing big, just a gray cat. The heroes complied, the prince
produced his (former) minion, the heroes laid the smackdown, and the
demoness was gone for good. Rejoice!

I don't remember who pointed it out, but eventually the players realized
that sacrificing an animal to a demon prince was maybe not the best
idea. At the very least, not a very /good/ idea. In fact, they had let
the prince smooth-talk them into something pretty heinous.

They decided to make good by reincarnating the cat. This also seemed
like a good idea at the time, until they realized that they had created
a girl as dumb as a cat. Realizing that her survival prospects weren't
so good, they set her up for life with a nice house and servants to take
care of her.

I'm not sure whether it's more or less amusing than seeing a monk
grappeling an Ogre Vampire...

I like that. The constant back and forth sounds like a great long-running
plot idea.
