I remember reading that there is no install for the 360 version, I just
can't remeber where. Again, this would seem to be true because Rockstar had
to work with the stupid arcade version of the 360.

They should have never released the core version to begin with. It has
done nothing but cause pop-in problems on this and several other games.

Even if they did get rid of the Core system, the lack of hard drive
installs would remain. Developers don't want to exclude all those Core
owners that have already bought into the platform.

I believe IGN's review mentions that there is no hard drive install.

I'm sure the press run on GTA IV is going to be huge just as it was
for Halo 3. You can find $30 Buy It Now listings for Halo 3, brand new
and sealed, on eBay right now.

I'm considering the same things you are but am also looking to see how
many people I know are going to be on one version versus the other.

I don't know many people who own a PS3. I do know plenty of people who
own a 360 but few of them seem to be all that interested in the game.

In fact, the friend who's most interested in the game has never owned
a console and looks to be cheaping out on getting one this time, too.
He tends to just download games when they come out on the PC.

I wanted to tell him that it's not coming out on the PC to get him to
buy into one system or the other but I doubt that's true.

Nevertheless, the 360 version is certainly not a no-brainer for me. On
the one hand, I really want to get it today. On the other hand, I feel
it's prudent to wait a little bit and see what people say about the
performance, both campaign and online, of each version.

no plans for GTA4. next game I pick up is probably gonna be Ninja Gaiden.
