It's the males wearing heavy shoes and socks with shorts that get to me.

Oh, don't get me started! )I will anyway) Down here, the snowbirds,

Oh I do know - and I can see where the outfits maxis designed came from.
Doesn't make it any better! Any man getting that on aging gets sent rapidly
to the clothes hook for new stuff!

Heck, I'm not a medieval/fantasy sim type but I'd prefer a magic EP over
apartments, anyway!

My sims tend to live in single storey houses, sometimes double storey.
That's it. Can't think of anything worse than having to keep track of the
blighters over multiple floor levels. I don't care if the rest of the
inhabitants would be autonomous like at uni. Mr Sim is in the apartment on
floor 2, while Kid Sim is in the ground floor in the pool, Mrs Sim is in the
gym on floor 5 and I have no idea where Teen Sim has got to because his
girlfriend lives on floor 10 but they like to go to the cafe somewhere in
the middle of the building... It's enough to give me a caniption (sp?).
While I'm not a control freak and tend to let my sims do what they will
(with the exception of some skill-building, I take over when they need a
promotion since they won't study cooking or charisma by themselves) having a
family scatter over multiple levels would drive me batty. All the usable
stuff would have to be crammed into the two lowest levels just so I could
see what's going on without having to keep switching between family members.

Cheers!

I doubt you'd have to keep track of everyone, but I think you would
have that option, kind of like a dorm.

Yeah, I play two really big dorms which can be fun but there is a lot of
pausing while I go off and find out what so-and-so is up to now (and usually
stop them doing it). At least with the click-on-icon or pressing the space
bar option you can zoom straight to them. I get them to learn cooking, BTW,
by making them do it. I don't think cooking is something you can really
study, you have to do it to learn.

Best wishes

And in addition to all that, what exactly is there in apartment living to
make it something worth having? Uni had dorms, but the point of the EP
was getting a degree, and associated activities. What on earth are the
associated activities here? Rowing with the management company, as my
daughter is doing over a bill, seems to be all I can think of. There again
our apartment blocks rarely have swimming pools and cafes - my daughter's
does have a tiny gym, and that was a big point for her!

Having had the experience of apartment life these past 3 years, I can
tell you...it's bad enough I have to do this termporaily let alone
inflict it on my sims (although I do love the liyyle boogers upstairs
who always talk to me from teh balcony...they think I am hysterically
funny becasue I speak Spanish to them and they go into peals of laughter
the more I say...hey...someone thinks I'm funny!even if they're only 3
and 5!)

He's not working on Sims 3 according to that interview that most of us read
from the gaming magazine scan about a week ago. In the interview they said
the Sims 3 team had shown him what they were doing and he was happy with it
but he's working full time on the Spore team and has no creative control
over Sims 3.

Cheers!

I was thinking of those kitted out apartment buildings you see more and more
often around Sydney. Secure entry with pool and gym. People living above a
series of shops on the ground floor. There are quite a few developments like
that which have sprung up in the last 3 or 4 years. The developers say they
are "building communities", where you have everything you want within the
apartment complex, complete with hairdresser, beautician and vege shop just
an elevator ride away.

I must say I really do not want the equivalent of large dorms thrust upon me
by an EP. It would have to have some really special building tools for me to
consider an apartment-centred EP. More bloody townies to contend with, too.
*Somebody* would have to be living in the other apartments. And I really
don't want Goopy and Co living in the same building as my sims.

Let's see... Apartment living related activities. The toilet on the top
floor has sprung a leak and has flooded the two levels below. There is
sewerage backing up and flooding into my sim's apartment so I need to call
the strata management company to send around a plumber. My water levies have
gone up because the idiot next door takes multiple baths each day and I get
scalded with hot water in the shower every time he flushes the toilet.
That's pretty much what apartment living was like for me when I lived in
one. Constant calls to the strata management company about plumbing issues
and the 60+ woman upstairs going to the toilet multiple times in the middle
of the night so I kept getting woken up by the noise of her toilet flushing.
She was nice and a good ally on the plumbing front, though Smile

Very nice. We don't seem to have those, not around here anyway. Somewhere
to park the car is as good as it gets. My daughter and her boyfriend had 2
cars and only one space.

Ah, fun. Kirsty moved into hers a few months back and has now been
presented with an extra bill as the electric meters for her block have been
misread for years. aside form pointing out to the management co that they
only ned to pay up for one year ( and they are disputing the sum anuyway )
the bill apparently includes "other things" but the girl on the phone
couldn't tell her what they are. And she couldn't race the letter or the
clauses at the bottom of the letter and the refence number on the letter
didn't help and ..well you get the picture.

I really don't want to play that sort of game. Real life is bad enough.Smile

At the church I used to attend as a kid we had this elderly gentleman who
used to wear safari suits. He had winter safari suits and summer safari
suits. That's all he ever wore, in various shades of beige and other pastel
colours. His wife was a nightmare dresser. Short and quite... wide, she used
to wear flowery skirts with an elastic waist band, which made her look even
wider and pinched in at the waist. Worse still, the skirts came just below
the knee and when she walked you could see the stocking knee highs she
habitually wore, pinching off circulation just below the knee. They were
definitely a sight to behold!
