Well at first it was funny, because the lot was crammed to overflowing.
General Buzz had thrown a house warming after his orginal house burned
down - by courtesy of TGMG. The fireballs fell at random, setting fire to
buildings and the spare sims all took to their heels and made a mad rush for
the exit, charging off down the road. I forced a select on a group of sims I
was running through a story and made them fire fighters - Viddy was one, and
he was a great deal more use than General Buzz for all his military
training.
Then a fireball hit Carol and it all turned rather nasty.
Had the girl just burned to a crisp like being hit by a satellite it
wouldn;t have been so bad but the modder seemed to relish the running about
screaming and waving arms in the air because poor Carol took a terrible long
time to die and I couldn;t get anyone to douse her flames.
..
As I said, it was rather horrid and in the end she curled up in a little
ball by a hedge and TGR came down for her -THEN they all started wailing -
when it was too late.
I never tried it again and for me to say that shows what I thought of the
whole thing. Even Goopy deserved a better death than that nasty little
display.

ew...not nice....people in flames running around it totally different
than, say, people with horrible gastric illnesses all attempting to land
on the same potty...or everyone doing a simulatanwous stomach clutch....

As the giant fool I am, I likely will get it. If I substitute Sims 2
for it remains to be seen.

Only ONE neighbourhood/neighbourhood is shipping with the game, at
least as things are now... no other maps are included either :-s

Design and build homes with complete freedom to customise everything and
*make your very own neighbourhoods.*

I know that could mean we make the one and only one how we want it, but to
seasoned sims players used to making lots, it reads differently, don't you
think? I would have omitted the "s" off the end if they meant we got one
and only one.

Simsville was a new game that was announced earlyish in the Sim 1 life
span; I think one of the early EPs had a video promo for it. It was
supposed to be something midway between Sims and Sim City. The promo
clip is on YouTube, I discovered this morning. The game was
cancelled, reportedly because it was boring even the game developers.
No further details on that, that I can recall.

I think it did have some gameplay involving Sims forming groups, but
that was never made clear. Sounds like in Societies, the people are
mostly animated props.

I sure would like the Societies street preacher as an NPC or even
(maybe better) an animated object in Sims 2, though.

That'd ne funny..he could sort of be like the Drew Carey Sim in Sims 1.
He'd arrive on the lot like the gypsy or Humble does and start
haranguing people....and I betcha there'd be a huge outcry about it!

Like Drew Carey! Exactly! I had forgotten how annoying he was, but I
was able to have him show up wearing nothing but jockey shorts to my
Sim orgies, and he would always end up getting slapped by the women he
was coming on to.

I know it's possible to change the NPCs in Sims 2 to customize at
least their appearance, but I haven't gone to the trouble of figuring
out how. I know it can be done with various third-party programs, but
I haven't had time at all, and I gather it's not as simple as Sim
Wardrobe's NPC modifier for Sims 1. In Sims 1, I changed Mrs.
Crumplebottom into a homeless crazy guy for my low-rent downtown, and
that worked quite well. He still had the purse and harassed people,
but he fit right into the sleazy bar and pool hall, which was my pride
and joy.

No, I mean, it sounds like what they promised Sim City Societies WOULD
be.

The wonderful thing about Sims and Sims 2 is the *depth* at which you
can dwell into their lives, controll their fate and so on.

It's rediculous. They keep talking about more power, more
customization, and giving people tools, amongst other things, to tell
stories... but in reality what we're getting is a stripped down, easy
to play, console version, that I think the suits in EA hope will
appeal to console gamers and younger children... trying to capture
even more demographics.
