Actually I've always been taking him seriously..., or at least
semi-seriously. He hurt me quite often with (some) his jokes, but I always
prefer to resolve it the diplomatic way. Besides, if I show I am hurt...,
come on, you know it's only going to be more fun.... That's unfortunately
how men play.... So there, I'm hurt. I don't like it when Poly told me I
should commit suicide AND added that it's not a joke. If I weren't out of
my depression the second time, and know how I really should live my life, I
might have done the stupid thing.
I really can't blame him. He knew little about me, though I probably have
given people here an illusion that you guys know a great deal about me. I
understand the more ernestly we are with each other the better our
friendship would be. Unfortunately I CAN'T tell any of you guys the more
private part of me. There are just stuff that's better unsaid, and wish
you guys can respect that.
Oh, well, I should have taken his opinion that I should never care about
people's opinion about me.... Wait, that sounds weird....
Anyways, this message will self-destruct the next nanosecond you guys
finish reading it. It'll disappear from your memory and we'll just be
friends again.

That's why we join here, isn't it? At least people here are mature enough
not to judge base on face value.
My ex-coworkers are all nice enough and I like them much too. Fortunately
I am wise enough to keep my private life off from them or it'll just be
gossips.... Most of my ex-coworkers were gossipping who was this or what
and had lots of emotional trauma because of it... (some even lost their
jobs). And I was smart enough not to partake the gossip too much
(especially important because I had a rank in the company, but some
managers don't understand the value of turning a blind eye). Maybe that's
why some thought I was a little aloof, though they still like me okay,
which I am glad enough. They might not aware it's hard to keep a
professional image and personal friendship apart. This almost sound like
an interview question. LOL!
It's okay to have an account, but don't be too open about your personal
stuff, that'll be my suggestion to those who already have it.

No, I dont have an account at either. I use mostly emails to keep

Unlike on usenet?
I don't post anything on my blogs I would not post on usenet. I'm
pretty reserved in what I post here for the most part I think it is
the same on livejournal. Nothing more lurid in any of my friends blogs
than what get posted here (actually way less lurid than what got
posted here back in the day...) I guess I post slightly more regularly
on livejournal and more about myself because it seems more on topic.
For example I bought a new laptop. I actually bought it for small size
and low price but I was amazed at how many bells and whistles it has.
I now have a web cam, two microphones, a fingerprint scanner, a tablet
screen and remote control. It took me a couple of days to figure out I
had the remote. Physical documentation is kind of sparse these days.
This would be pretty much the theme of my average blog post. It's also
in the ball park of a lot of the posts here.
I did it so I could keep in touch with people. I've met lots of people
over the years who I wished I had stayed in closer touch with more of
them (I am a nostalgic at heart). This makes it easier. I'm lazy.
Also, I like reading my own writing (I have all of 8 people as friends
on livejournal, facebook it turns out I have over 30 friends on).

If you don't have any real reason to join, don't.
I feel "isolated" too sometimes as I don't use MSN Messenger or
Facebook (that all real-life friends seem to use these days), but then
I am reminded that those people are never more than a phone call away
anyway - I don't *need* a service such as Facebook to stay in touch
with them.
What I like about the net is the interesting people I *wouldn't* have
met otherwise, not the regular boring ones I have to deal with every
day.

That's why I wonder if there is a reason for me to be on there too. I also
wish to be more connected with friends I've met over the years. In some
way I am very nostalgic also.
It's like most technology, if abused, it's bad, but can potentially be very
good tool. I have been very against going to social network sites like
Facebook or MySpace because there have been a lot of bad things happened to
people that caused many melodramas. However, since you are on there, it's
almost like I'm given an excuse, and I wish to ask if there are more people
here are also on Facebook, maybe there is a good reason for me to be on too
(obviously I can't just have you as my sole friend there, and I definitely
don't want coworkers to know me via such network).
Maybe I don't need a Facebook since I do see you on Livejournal, though
I've not been posting much there lately, except yesterday to update my
favorite classical music list and gather stuff I need for the story I'm
writing (which are all private entries).

Of course usenet has the same potential. But AFAIK lots of the young ones
don't use usenet. And those posting here ("statistics" admittedly based on
a very small set of groups) don't post that many personal details.
