Minerva is cool, thanks for the tip.
I can't accept those points though, as I've been lurking without playing
much all along.
I read back through many posts before I asked here about MODS. I did'nt
find nearly as much info as I had thought I would.
That's all sorted now though, thanks to the many posts in this thread.

It's good to see that are still many helpful folks hanging out here.

The Orange Box was a free gift for Christmas, so it only cost me $297.49 USD
for the BFG nVidia GeForce 8800 GT OC so i could play it.
Mind you I'm not griping. I should have done it when I got HL2 many moons
ago. The ending sequences of HL2 were dreadful without a vid card.
I'm having lots of fun now.

I have'nt done so much but to look around at a few of the maps on empty
servers.
CS was more of my thing, but I have'nt really played anything online since
Source became popular.
I will certainly keep an eye out for future AGHL bashes though. I'll
soldier along at any HL multiplayer game, because AGHL bashes have never
dissapointed.

Question about Coastline for those who've played it.

I'm near the end chasing Breen and just picked up a crowbar to break into a
room full of weapons. My health status numbers aren't showing and my ammo
count isn't showing on my monitor either. Also, I can't switch between the
weapons. Only when I run out of ammo does it switch to the next weapon.

Is this the makers intent or is there a console command I can enter to fix
the problem if there is one? I've got out and restarted but get the same
thing.

suit is taken away, and you must find another one. Without the suit,
there's no HUD. And IRC the weapons-switch thingy is a bug in most
mods.

Find your new HEV suit and all will be fixed.

Going from memory, the command you need to type to give yourself a HEV
suit is

give item_suit

You'll need to have cheats enabled, so before typing that command, put
this into the console

sv_cheats 1


Of course, doing this may break some of the scripting in the mod, so use
it with car. There was an infamous 'cheat bug' at the end of Nihilanth
for anyone who'd played the game with sv_cheats enabled - the game
wouldn't allow you to complete unless you'd begun the map with cheats
off, because somehow enabling cheats broke one of the scripted
sequences, which needed the map to be reloaded in order to work properly.

to disable cheats again is sv_cheats 0

I emailed the mod maker. He replied that it was indeed his intent to
eliminate the weapons switching. Also confirmed that HUD displays go away
without your suit...ammo and health. Said he thought it would make for an
interesting challenge to not be able to switch weapons. That's an
understatement. I was doing a lot of shootin' and duckin'. I just played
about 30 minutes past where I was having difficulty and there was my suit.
All is well now. Didn't have to cheat...don't like doin' that.
